this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Out of all the candidates thus far, I want Byron Leftwich. I want a first time head coach with a fresh mind. The NFL background helps too....

Re: Head Coach Search
Word is that Leftwich's agent is using the Saints to turn up the heat on the Jags to "get off the pot" on the deal they've been working on. By the way, all three candidates (Leftwich, Glenn, and Allen) for the Saints job all have the same agent.

Re: Head Coach Search
I’m not feeling Glenn or Allen.

Re: Head Coach Search
Not on Glenn myself. I'd lean toward Allen solely for continuity. Leftwich if they are willing to retool the coaching staff. I still see this roster as being in win now mode with Thomas and others returning from injury ... and that includes bringing back Winston.

Re: Head Coach Search
Looking like Vegas thinks Allen is the favorite to get the job. If Loomis and Payton had a succession plan in place Allen would be the only logical choice given he was the only one already in place.

Re: Head Coach Search
If you listened to Sean's press conference he said (paraphrasing) "When I quit, I first went in to tell Mrs. Benson, then I went to Mickey, then I went to Dennis" that's telling to me.

Re: Head Coach Search
The sentiment is nice, but (with respect) if he didn’t prepare them a while ago for this then it really doesn’t matter who he told first. I guess I just mean I hoped this didn’t hit them out the blue.

Re: Head Coach Search
No disrespect taken, and I mean none in return. I wasn't implying that everything came out of the blue. I'm sure there was a succession plan prior to this week. That doesn't mean it was in concrete WHEN the changeover was going to happen. Sean said he took a week to finalize his decision and I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt. He didn't go next after management/ownership to the OC, STC or any other coach just DA. Which to me was probably "here's the keys guy" situation. That's just how I see it. Time will tell.
