That.
Plus he's grown, matured (somewhat) and maybe most important of all - players LOVE him. They'll rally for him. I'm not in the locker room, just going off what I've seen personally. Outside of landing a big name QB like Wilson or Watson, Jameis should be able to thrive this year and also allow us $ to surround him with talent. |

Re: Why Jameis Winston is STILL Saints best QB option
Winston has a very impressive arm that can bail a team out of bad drives. I am not sold on Winston being able to sustain drives, he was terrible on short passes/screen game, and although the interceptions went down in his 7 starts, the jury is still out regarding his overall decision making.
With all that said, I don't see Rodgers, Wilson, Jimmy G, or D Watson coming to the Saints. By default Winston is the best option that will be available to the Saints, with Bridgewater maybe as the top fallback option. |

Re: Why Jameis Winston is STILL Saints best QB option
Smash uploaded a video of the Dennis Allen press conference.
In that conference, Dennis stated he will run the football & create explosive plays. That sounds like JW to me. He executes well off play-action and throws a beautiful deep ball. I hope Loomis/Dennis/Carmichael's plan is to re sign Jameis. Not because of "default", but by the fact he has won meaningful games in New Orleans, & is extremely familiar with the offense. Imagine what he could do if he had weapons at WR/TE. Option B - Kirk Cousins (average QB)? Porn star Jimmy G (choked in the post season)? Marriota (former 1st rounder/now a backup)? Desean? Gonna cost you serious draft capital. IMO JW is the best possible option for us. |

Re: Why Jameis Winston is STILL Saints best QB option
The team won 9 games last year with Winston or Hill at QB. That was with no WR play, no TE play, very injured Oline play and no kicker for 3/4 of the year. Go along with COVID and hurricane issues.
Now, I’m not trying to argue (as I am repeatedly accused of doing) because you could easily be correct. But what makes you think Winston can’t succeed? Is it just the short game issues? |
