I'm only "willing" Ruiz to be a solid starting RG that stays healthy. That's rare these days not only for the Saints, but for the entire league itself. It has been said many times before that one of the most important abilities for a player to possess in today's NFL is availability. If he develops into an All Pro, so much the better.

Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Seahawks

The problem though is that he's nothing more than a serviceable guard, at best.

No matter how many times you attempt to promote him (oooh look, he had a goood game) - Ruiz is and will always be less than what we'd all hoped.

If that changes, you can fire up the crow. I'll bring a bib and won't leave the table until the bones are clean. But that 'aint often...

No doubt we all hope he turns out to be something special. But the NFL is made up of offensive linemen that are at best less than serviceable. And it appears that a solid percentage of those are currently on IR.

Oh, and I don't feel I promote Ruiz any more than any other Saints player. I simply share every article or interesting mention, just like with any other Saints player, NOT completely behind a paywall.

By the way exactly what was it that everybody realistically hoped Ruiz would be? My personal expectations were for him to be a solid starter for the next decade.

Who's being realistic? The expectation is that every 1st round pick must instantly be an All-Pro and play in every game for a 12 year career. Anything less, then they are a bust.

So far Lattimore has lived up to the hype. The others?

Yup. Under that criteria all but two or three 1st rounders every year are a bust.

Did the guy who starts each year predicting an undefeated season just use the world “realistically”??!! 😝

Realistically speaking, I go into every game expecting the Saints to win. Sometimes circumstances arise that interfere with that expected outcome. Yet, since I have that individual game expectation does it not make sense that I have the same expectation for the sum of those games on a season long basis? As in with individual games sometimes circumstances arise that interfere, however.
