As a fan, I honestly don't care where he goes outside the division.

I will enjoy watching Sean Payton's career as long as it's not in Atlanta, Tampa or Carolina.

Seems like a less desirable destination IMO

Texans have been in the shadow of the Cowboys since forever. They just might be ready to step it up. Let them give us three number 1s and some 2s.

I would love to get the 2nd (Texans), 3rd (Cardinals), or 4th (Colts) overall pick for Payton and take C.J. Stroud.

I can't believe some of you here would settle for anything less than multiple first-rounders, plus, plus, plus.

Sean Payton is widely viewed as the top HC candidate in years - a lock to turn a franchise's fortunes around and build a sustainable winning program for decades to come.

Bump! Adam Shefter's quote below is EXACTLY why Sean Payton is worth multiple high draft picks.

Sources: The Arizona Cardinals fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who 10 months ago signed a contract extension through the 2027 season.

The Cardinals still never have had a head coach - any head coach - last longer than six years while the team has existed for over 100 years.

Here's a biggie: What if Sean McVay leaves the Rams? You think Payton wants that sunshine Hollywood life?

You bet he does.

So long as they can muster up 3 #1s, and some 2s, why not.

While we are on the subject of coaches... We tend to focus heavily on failed draft picks but other than Sean Payton, which could be argued owes most of his success to Drew Brees, we don't have many positive notables.

Dennis Allen - HC
Rob Ryan - DC
Jim Haslett - HC
Mike Ditka - HC
Pete Carmichael - OC
Steve Spagnuolo - DC

I hate to say it, but off the field and out of the salary cap, we are not a very talented organization. We had one hit wonders but have floundered back to mediocrity.

Salient point. Maybe it also shows that retreads aren't the answer. We should have given the opportunity to an up and comer, like SP was when hired. I think it also shows that given SP's record , he should command very high trade value . Can't wait to see just how high the bidding will become.

They've got picks, but I doubt they are willing to pony over what Saints fan would like to see.

Now this I can see given Houston has two #1's. But would Payton be willing to go there over other possibilities?

What Rez said & I agree on Denver.

Add the Texans (per Peter Schrager) to the mix as well.

They have 2 1st rounders (#3 and #12).

This is what I've been saying all along. There's not going to be a bidding war. Payton will pick the one team he wants to go to and then a deal will be made.

I'd love to have him, but so would Payton. He's not going to Arizona if they turn over the #3 overall pick to the Saints for his rights. I just don't see it happening.

Unfortunately players and/or cap related monies cannot be part of a trade deal for a coach's rights. Just picks and/or cash in the owner's pocket.

CJ STROUD is a solid prospect but the Saints need to get rid of this stale play caller … Pete Carmichael.

I have no faith in him as a play caller. Stale and no creativity.

I can’t help but entertain the idea that Sean knows where he wants to go and wants to bring Thomas along with him as part of the trade due to Thomas’ recent restructure. Im thinking Arizona a good possibility and that #3 overall along with maybe their second or next years first would be really nice. A Stroud and Olave combination with a fresh new OC is fun to think about

Speaking of new OC, Bobby Slowik from the 49ers came up in an article I was reading and after reading up on him, I think he is an intriguing candidate.

Players cannot be part of any transaction for the rights to a contracted coach.

And Payton will absolutely go where HE wants to go, not to where the Saints want him to go. They only have control over where they DON'T want him to go.

Doesn't prevent a player deal from happening.
