Eliminate Offensive and Defensive Holding:

All players on the OL, DL, LB and DB's would wear some sort of limited flexibility glove. A mitten would be even better. This would lead to a change in blocking techniques by the OL and new pass rushing and pass covering techniques on the Defensive side.

The Offense is supposed to make positive yardage plays and score points.
The Defense is supposed to prevent positive yardage plays and scores.
QB's would love that. Nobody would be able to intercept the ball.

The problem is that Goodell makes it clear to referees when he has an agenda, like seeing his Los Angeles experiment succeed or putting Maholmes in the conversation as the next GOAT just as Brady retired. So, while there are these borderline calls that are technically penalties but only sometimes get called, refs know that uncle Roger will give them a rub down with his magic hands if they happen to make the choice on those borderline calls that benefit his chosen team in the big playoff games.

It sucks to see the Super Bowl decided on a borderline call that while legit, would not have been called half the time. Especially when we missed out on something that would have been called 99% of the time. Perhaps there should be some special rules for the critical moments of big games that allow borderline calls to result in a replay of the down rather than being a black and white judgement call where the refs decide the game by whether they throw a flag. Make more of it reviewable but give the option to replay the down if its borderline and should not decide the game.

The post was about offensive and defensive HOLDING nothing else.
Did you not understand that? I mentioned that the offense and defense would have to evolve. Did you miss that too?

When you finish your little laugh click the link below and learn other evolutions of the game after certain rules were changed.
For Example: The QB couldn't throw a pass unless he was 5 yds. behind the line of scrimmage?

Its first playoff game in 1932 — a game forced indoors by deep snow and frigid temperatures — inspired one of the most significant rules changes in NFL history.

In that game, Chicago Bears fullback and future Hall of Famer Bronko Nagurski faked a plunge, stepped back, jumped and completed a lob pass to Red Grange for a key touchdown in his team’s 9-0 victory over the Portsmouth (Ohio) Spartans. The Spartans complained bitterly (SOUND FAMILIAR?) that the play violated a rule stating passes must be thrown from at least 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

Ease up. I didn't miss anything. I was even aware of the anecdote you copied. I just mentioned that with the entire defense being literally handcuffed the offense wouldn't have many worries about the ball being intercepted. That would would have a far greater impact on the game than artificially restricting holding.

I also included your own signature ROTFL smilies for grins.
