To me this is the perfect example of Mickey's indecisiveness and his self-delusion that his/the team's choices must be the right ones, regardless of the outcome.
I heard the exact same things said about Ruiz who has since become one of our most stable offensive linemen. I have heard recently that next to QB's, the offensive line is the most difficult position group to fill in the entire league. It was also said that patience is required. I'll guarantee you that if he was waived to hopefully be moved to the practice squad he'd have at least a dozen needy teams jumping all over that.

Can we at least try him on the inside (G)? When Baldy broke down some film and saw him repeatedly tripping DEs, I was a bit concerned .

This is starting to look like a costly "miss" from the draft. A first rounder at that.

Let's get rid of Douggie Marrone first and see if he doesn't improve.

Heard exactly the same from you on Ruiz including literally labeling him a bust on many occasions.

If the Saints front office wake up from their coma after this season, Dougie will be gone anyways. Get some real coaching in NOLA.

If Penning ever makes something of himself (slim chance) then I will eat crow. Until then, all I see is a player with a mean streak and no technique (unless you consider tripping a technique). This is the pro's not college and we are basically giving him his second redshirt year. It feels like are trying to salvage a burnt pizza and make it a gourmet dish. It's a waste of a crucial roster spot that may be needed for someone who can contribute.

I'm pretty convinced we can cut or move him to the practice squad safely, since there are no other GM's in the NFL who are as feckless as Mickey. Apparently based on Penning and Jimmy Graham we like having extra bodies on the 53 that can serve as mascots.
