Re: DENNIS ALLEN…
Belichick the GM has his ups and downs. He is good at managing the salary cap, trading back to acquire more draft picks, moving on from aging vets at the right time, and identifying diamonds in the rough on special teams, slot receiver, wildcat QB, etc. He has been very bad at identifying bargains at QB and WR. He has put together a Rob Reiner ensemble cast of character actors for his QB to throw to without one top star, but he no longer has a QB capable of reading the field and using all those options, so his offense doesn't work absent a better #1 WR and/or better QB. New Englands scouting department and front office has been raided for decades, and he might be at a point where the turds have floated to the top and he is too loyal to them. But he does have some sense of how you should manage a team if you did have a star QB, which is a lot like what KC is doing. The best situation for Belichick would be to go to a team like the Chargers that has the QB but has no idea what to do with one or how to win in the playoffs.
