Before the O-line fell apart because of injuries, the team and Carr were playing at top-level, including nearly beating the eventual SB champs. This team, even with a JV O-line, was competitive in many games. In fact, if the one-score games go their way, they could have finished the regular season as good as 11-6.
The problem with Carr was not his skill set. He was a decent QB. He was just an awful leader. He didn’t take any accountability or responsibility for bad decisions. He was not good in the face of adversity. By no fault of his own, he was also paid an enormous amount of money and didn’t live up to it.

People like Carr believe that if they do their best, it’s because of them that the team wins. And it’s because of someone else that the team loses. It’s never his fault. In other words, he’s a good leader when the team is winning. But that’s it.
