i have to disagree with this statement b/c he is a good route runner and has good hands and that plays into the strength of our offense b/c of it being timing based and more of quick short passes.. we have alot of WRs who are more athletic but not overly great at catching the ball other then colston (who also has the dropsies at times) arringtons ability to just make the catch will be very effective in our offense

i like ur point because catching IS THE MOST IMPORTANT characteristic of NFL receivers....he has to be a good route runner(and he is decent) because he doesnt have the great speed that the position often requires....i liked watching him in michigan cuz thats my fav college team...but he never really impressed me....i think that if he does play he will get a lot of 1-1 coverage because of colston and the rise of meachem...as well as patten being a great catcher....the more i watch film of him because of this annoying thread the more i like his fundamentals..he doesnt have the breakout speed or the amazing hands of a calvin johnson or a larry fitz but he does the basics really well....he runs routes....he jumps high enough...his catching is his strong point....and he definitly is not afraid to get hit....i watched a few that would put me down for days lol....i hate to do this but i hafta fall back on the fact that he doesnt have ne thing great about what he does.....our depth at receiver just wont allow for a sub-par guy....i just dont see it

Does Terrance Cooper do anything great? How about Devery besides running in a straight line?

ur right....Devery runs very fast...that can be his one great thing....my argument for copper is that he is a vet...other than that...i think it will be between him and arrington for the last wideout spot...if arrington beats out nebody from last years team it will be him....i think that this time his experience gives him the edge

Re: A quick look at the WR

There is a reason we signed so many tall WR for camp. There has to be something to it. Short guys have there work cut out for them.

Colston and Meachem starting with Patten in the slot. Henderson as our 4th, Cooper 5th, and Arrington winning out the last spot. It all depends on how much Meachem has grown this past year.
If we carry 6 WR's, then I don't think we can keep 4 RB's, so that would be it for Stecker.

A lot surprisingly depends on Porter. If he can return kicks, then Moore and Stecker probably go. If he is a great ST cover guy, then Copper is gone.

I personally hope Arrington and Meachem step up and produce, allowing us to cut Henderson. I am tired of waiting for him to live up to his over-hyped potential. Just go already-no regrets.

Re: A quick look at the WR

Can someone please bring me up to speed. I am not a hater.

Adrian Arrington 6’3 204lbs = taller, better hands.
Robert Meachem 6’2 214lbs = shorter, thicker frame, burner.

I want them both to do great but i'm just confused about the hype over Meachem. He hasn't played any NFL games yet, Arrington hasn't either, but Arrington You Tube clips agaisnt Florida was a beast. I was at the LSU game when Meachem played looked good, I like his YAC but, Damn I love those hands of Arrington.

Re: A quick look at the WR

Robert Meachem 6’2 214lbs = shorter, thicker frame, burner. Needs to come out with a chip on his shoulder, and prove why he was are first round pick last year.

Arrington, keeps his head on right. He could just be the steal of the draft.
