If we are going to go down, might as well go down with a hometown boy.
Haha, that's hilarious because I'm starting to feel the exact same way! I don't really like Mingo but everybody and their cousin's mock draft has us taking him so let's just do it LOL.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

With all the depth we suddenly have at linebacker (that is not to say the talent level is totally awesome), seems like we might be able to make some trades there as well with a transitioning 4-3 team (i.e. Dallas)...

I really don't see how Will Smith will fit in our 3-4 scheme...

Have my doubts about Junior Galette as an OLB (Jack)...

And can Greg Romeus finally emerge from this terrible cloud of injuries...

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Since we signed Butler I feel that we're going to trade down for late 1st and 2nd round picks, take a Safety in the 1st and Pass Rusher in the 2nd.

1 - S - Vaccaro/Cyprien or Reid
2 - OLB - Okafor/Montgomery
3 - OL - Armstead
4 - CB - Mathieu
5 - DL - Brandon Williams
6 - QB - Griffin

Potential Trade Partners with two picks in the second round and Trade Values:

New Orleans - 1.15(15) [1050]

Cincinnati - 2.5(37)[530] (from OAK), 2.21(53) [370], 3.22(86) [160] = [1060]

Miami - 2.10(42) [480], 2.22(54) [360] (from IND), 3.15(47) [195], 3.20(52) [170]* = [1035]

*Not Included in Total Points

San Francisco - 2.2(34) [560] (from KC), 2.29 [292], 3.12 [210] (from CAR), 3.31 [120]* = [1062]

*Not Included in Total Points

Analysis: There are some potential strong trading partners if we're willing to move down into the second round

Teams with two picks in the first round

St. Louis - 1.16(16) [1000], 1.22(22) [780] (from WAS), 2.14(46) [440], 3.16(80) [190]

Minnesota - 1.23 [760], 1.25 [720] (from SEA), 2.20(52) [380], 3.21(85) [165]

Analysis: St. Louis and Minnesota seem unlikely trading partners unless we're willing to offer more in draft picks or they have a player they really covet...

Wanted to Revisit Trading Down...

As much as I want Ogletree, we should be huddling with Cincy or Miami...

We could trade down and secure very fine talent at a number of positions...

Saints/Bengals Trade Scenario

Saints trade rights to RB Chris Ivory and pick R1(15)

for

Bengals' picks R2 (37), R2 (53), and R6 (190)

2013 Saint's Draft Mock (JeanPierre)

[Updated 2013/04/03]

2.05 (37) LB Alec Ogletree, Georgia*

R2 Forfeit

2.21 (53) OL Barrett Jones, Bama

3.13 (75) LB Jaime Collins, So. Miss*

3.22 (86) OL Jordan Mills, Louisiana Tech

4.12 (109) LB Chase Thomas, Stanford

5.11 (144) DE Bennie Logan, LSU

6.15 (183) DT Kwame Geathers, Georgia

*Ogletree is currently trending at an average of 38th overall (He's a First Rounder To Me); if Ogletree isn't there as he shouldn't be, I'd select 2.05 (37) CB Jamar Taylor, Boise State

If we go from pick 15 to pick 37, we better get back more then that.

Two Round two picks, and a round 3 pick for backing up twenty two spots?

And considering our salary cap commitments?

And the pending Graham commitment?

And our needs at Left Tackle and 3-4 Defense commitment?

Oh, and our inability to select an impact first round pick?

They just signed Jake Long to a contract we couldn't afford so that Left Tackle option doesn't work...

Their former Left Tackle Rodger Saffold isn't returning phone calls from Rams - CBSSports.com

Rodger Saffold was the 33rd pick in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft; Saffold was named to several All-Rookie teams.

However, Saffold was drafted under former Coach Spagnuolo; Coach Fisher, who didn't draft him, feels he is better suited to Right Tackle - more likely though they are avoiding Left Tackle money as he's in the final year of his rookie contract and are doing a short term rent with Jake Long...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
