Seems like there's a name missing here. Think there's a realistic chance Harper's somewhere else?

So you have the worst tackler on the entire team at SS, and Roman Harper not even on the team?

Well, yes, and if Roman Harper were listed on the team, he'd be the worst tackler on the team...

...Harper, would also be the worst coverage back...

...not he can hang out at the old folks home and suck down some more O2...

SAINTS DEPTH CHART - 2013

How it could shake out on offense...

OFFENSE

QB Drew Brees, Luke McCown, Ryan Griffin (R)

FB Jed Collins

RB Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles, Mark Ingram, Travaris Cadet

WR Marques Colston, Nick Toon, Courtney Roby

LT Terron Armstead (R), Charles Brown

LG Ben Grubbs, Eric Olsen

OC Brian De La Puente

RG Jahri Evans, Andrew Tiller

RT Zach Strief, Jason Smith

TE Jimmy Graham, Benjamin Watson, Josh Hill (R)

FL Lance Moore, Joseph Morgan, Kenny Stills (R)

*Free Agent Acquisitons, Rookie Draftees/Undrafted Signings

Position of Concern, Need

The offensive line looks to be getting better, and deeper, now if the new OLine coach can produce a few more road graders - we'll be fine moving forward...

Really like our Tight End corps...

Need some more running backs - not sold on Tavaris Cadet...

Like Zach Strief and the effort he gave through injury last season, but I'd really like to see another young, strong buck in their to challenge...

I think Griffin could be the backup right away as he's already accustomed to playing in the Saints System at Tulane...

If Kenny Stills is the goods, Lance Moore will be expendable in one to two seasons...

The biggest question mark is Armstead and the Left Tackle Debate...

From there, it will be whether Payton & Co. get Ingram in a rhythm gashing defenses...

LT Terron Armstead (R), Charles Brown

RT Zach Strief, Jason Smith...

...The biggest question mark is Armstead and the Left Tackle Debate...

I'm guessing that Smith will start at LT and Armstead will back up Strief. The first two picks of this years draft were starting LT's for their teams and both of the teams that drafted them have already stated that they will be playing at RT.

You could very well be right, I just hate the thought.

I think that McCown is gone and Wallace will be 2nd string. I don't believe that Griffin can do much at this point. Wallace has game experience and better athleticism.

But what do I know? As one of our posters would say, I'm just a fat Monday Morning QB.

Good stuff, JP. I can't wait for August.

Well grabbing Armstead where we did in the third, if he becomes a very good right tackle, I'd still be happy with that; but, I think he was drafted to be a left tackle...

And in our scheme, the learning curb and requirements differ from other offenses...

But gathering and discussing online, speculating, arguing is what makes it all good - the fact it's the Saints makes it great!

I think we'll see a lot of rookies make this team. And conversely, we're gonna see quite a few expensive vets get cut. We have to sign Graham next year and we need some cap room.

As much as I like Harper, 8 million is way too much. And several others will have to renegotiate or hit the road.

Greer - 6 million
Lofton - 5.2 million
Hawthorne - 3.5 million
Morstead - 3 miilion
PT - 3 million
Robinson - 2.4 million
Ingram - 2.4 million

I think much of the youth movement will start this year.

Agree with the youth, frugal movement to retain Jimmy Graham...

But Greer's money, as I understand is guaranteed...

But you're right, in that, we may see the highest number of Rookies during Coach Payton's tenure, make this team...

Per T-P, Hicks will be at Defensive End and Will Smith is still being looked at as the "joker" (JACK) Linebacker...

Have read also that Vilma is still being looked at as an Inside Linebacker - isn't that what got him moved out of New York?!?

Man, we've gotten real beefy on the Defensive Line...

Got to get a Flag/Sticker made with seven fleur de lis in the 4-3 formation with a diagonal contrasting field of seven fleur de lis in a 3-4 format with a the latter being bigger and the sub caption reading "Size Matters"...

PT - 3 million vs Ingram - 2.4 million

sorry to say it again this year but i feel PT will once again be the better investment even though the saints will stuff ingram down the throats over and over.

i just do not accept using a first round pick because they are a first round pick .

sorry PT was an UDFA but if he fits better use him

Payton isn't using Ingram because he was a 1st round pick. PT is our best RB and probably top 10 in the league, but he isn't durable enough to be a featured back.

After all these years people still think Payton won't use the better player? Thats absurd.

Five Questions:

(1) With Will Smith being a poor fit in this defense, could he be traded for someone like the Rams OT Rodger Saffold???

(2) Will it be Vilma or Hawthorne at the Will LB? If Vilma isn't starting, does he stay, retire, or move on?

(3) Does Vacarro draft investment automatically make him the Strong Side Safety Starter as most online publications suggest? And will Harper stay or be traded or be released?

(4) Does Robinson make for a better fit in the press coverage system and seize a starting position?

(5) How many two TE sets will we see with Graham and Watson?

(5) How many two TE sets will we see with Graham and Watson?

(1) Smith is taking up a roster spot.

(2) Vilma will start because of his knowledge of the game while the system is installed.

(3) Vacarros spot is his to lose......but don't lose sight of IAQ.

(4) Greer is still the best corner we have......it'll be him Lewis starting but Robinson needs to play man in order to be effective. I like White alot too.

(5) Tons of 'em :bng:

Scouting Report on Charles Sims...

Lean, Has Frame to Build Upon; Good Vision, Shows Patience with Blocks and Adequate Burst; Decent Open-Field Speed; Steady Receiver with Good Experience in Univ of Houston Pro Set; Good All-Around Athlete that could line up at a number of positions; showed durability issues as the full time guy, would be better suited in a shared backfield...

Supplemental Draft Grade/Round - Fifth Round (Probably had with a fourth round pick, or a desperate franchise will spend a third)...

Wouldn't be opposed to spending a Supplemental Fifth Rounder to develop as PT's heir...

Ivory was proven insurance? How'd that insurance work out in the San Fran playoff game?

9 carries, 23 yards, 2.6 yards per carry
0 receptions, 0 yards

Ingram was on IR. The only thing IRvory did that day was make Brees throw more.

Well, regardless, the table is set and it's Ingram's opportunity to show why the Saints traded back into the first round to get him...

Just hope Ingram isn't under the Madden NCAA Cover curse - the past cover boys don't have too good a track record...

Where he was drafted is irrelevant. All he has to show anyone is that he's a good RB. There's no need to justify his cost, only to justify making the team.

Loomis is the one who should justify Ingram's cost.

Ingram was a very late 1st rounder. Its not Ingram's fault the Saints paid more than the 28th pick to acquire him.
