Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)
Ive been with MI from the begining. Then got wise. 49ers game wont prove anything to me, even if he runs for 200 yards. That will not happen though SF will stuff him for no yards and waste plays for the saints running him. I want to see MI make 100 yds per a game , consistantly, till the end of the season and then next year.
I want to see MI make the 3rd and 4th downs consistantly 80% of the time. Pretty simple for a great RB. |
Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)
Great game, now lets see if this was a propitious opportunity or a coming out party. I'll eat crow on what I said about him when I see some consistency. Congratulation on your 1st 100 yard game. Go saints

And, I am thrilled with MI's play today and the play of the OL and the play of the entire offense in general. But, Dallas' defense sucks. So, let's just call this what it was -- a very enjoyable win. They definitely won't be many that look like this. We can celebrate for a millisecond because SF will be here shortly. Thank God we will play them at our house. SF will be an entirely different game. I'm still pissed off about how they handed us our azz in the playoffs. |
Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)
Props to Ingram for showing up today. Though he was far from being the only one, it was nice to see him do something. I had some rather unpleasant feelings brewing after the drop, and especially after he spiked the ball and got the penalty after running through a gaping hole, as if he had done something great. But he picked it up, and that was a good sign.
I'm not about to take back anything I've previously said, as it has been more than fair. I don't hate him, and as he is a member of the Saints, I always pull for him to do well. But he has been disappointing and, at times, downright awful. I would like to see more positives before I even think about saying he's arrived, but tonight he played well and I'm glad for him. |
Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)
Next week against the 40-whiners will the acid test for acid Ingram.
Not saying he has to rush for over a 100 yds, but if he can come close to Sunday night's performance against a good defense then I will be a believer as well. |

Look at PT vs bears, he had like what 35 yards rushing? but about 5 of those runs went for first downs and it opened up the passing game |
Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)
Ingram, on ever run, #1 priority was to protect the ball. Regardless of his production, he didn't fumble, and it was a considerable effort given that two or three cowgirls were hanging on his arms rather than tackling him. He gained more yards than he otherwise should have, but you only can take what the defense gives. For that reason alone he's in my book with a check plus.

Ingram ran great. So you are comparing Mark Ingram to Marshawn Lynch? (for the record) |
Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)
As important as the rushing yards, I was pleased to see him get some catches.
If he can be a decent receiving threat out of the backfield, it helps prevent the opposing D assuming run every time he is in the game (and being right). |
Re: NEW Mark Ingram thread (post Dallas)
Lets not all break out the midnight douche canoes.
I am as critical of Ingram as anyone in this forum, and while there is a good bit of rationalization going on its no more or less than after all of his bad games. In the end, we ALL want someone on the field that will succeed and I find it highly unlikely that any Saints fan the world round wants Ingram to play badly, as "wanting" any Saints player to play badly means you are wearing a Falcons jersey. To all the people that drooled over that last statement. I have never once hoped he would have a bad game... He just had them and I pointed them out. :bng: |
