Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

Ya'll are confusing the crap outta me.

The article states that Payton said he's a TE, NOT a WR.

Right?

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

I don't care. Offer him more than the highest paid TE no matter what the ruling is. If he doesn't take it fine, let him play under the tag for whatever his position he is ruled to be and use the long term money to get Jordan and Hicks signed next year. That much less restructuring Loomis has to do next year

I'll stick up for Graham's ability. And the mismatch it creates.
I'll stick up for Graham's right to try for as much money as he can get.

But I don't believe the Saints should have an open check book with him. It's not that I don't think he deserves a huge payday, but the Saints offense has been based on having too many different options for a defense to account for. So I don't think it makes sense to pay one receiver 12 million + / year.

From Sean Payton testified at Jimmy Graham hearing | ProFootballTalk

(Excerpt) "The specifics aren’t known, but the gist of the testimony was that Graham is a tight end, not a receiver. The consequence, if Payton’s testimony is accepted, will be $5.3 million less in 2014 earnings for Graham."

This is so frickin' stupid. Graham's earnings will be based solely upon his contract, not the dumbass ruling. Holy crap. These writers have no clue about what is going on and people posting their (the writer's) moronic prose simply perpetuate the idiocy.

My God, people. Get a grip.

Geez.

Graham case included testimony from Bill Polian, Butch Davis | ProFootballTalk

"...Polian was an expert witness as to the position that Graham is a tight end for tag purposes; Davis testified on behalf of the position that Graham should be regarded as a receiver..."

What this Shaggy?!? Butch Davis testified on behalf of Jimmy Graham?!?

Butch Davis and Jimmy Graham are both Jimmy Sexton clients...

What's funny about this is calling Butch Davis as a football expert; had it been a recruiting discussion and the going rate for a four star prospect - I'd be all ears...

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

Isn't that a conflict of interest when they share the same agent?

No, not really. Sexton isn't involved in the litigation. Once again, this is NFLPA vs. NFL. This battle of titans will make strange bedfellows.
