If Jimmy is gonna wait until July to sign..................we need to draft a receiver and get Hill ready. We saw what happened when Brees re-signed at that point in 2012, the saints defense was bad yes but the first few games Brees was playing sloppy. He played better when we were getting behind. I blame that on lack of practice time. Graham will be rusted when the season starts and that could hurt us. We need to get Hill involved and start having a good receiver from the draft be able to fill some of the rust void by Graham.

If he got a long term deal of better than the Saints can/want to pay him it wouldn't surprise me. Thats not a knock on Jimmy but he is already had injuries and will want to secure his families long term future.

May 2: Deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets.

May 7: Deadline for prior club to exercise right of first refusal to restricted free agents.

May 8-10: NFL draft, New York, Radio City Music Hall. First round begins at 8 p.m. ET.

Cant happen after the draft. Restricted Free Agent is the same as a Non-Exclusive Franchise Tag in this regard. It is not up to Jimmy, once today passes his window is closed.

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

It was Graham’s coaches at the University of Miami who mentioned his name when the Saints asked them which Hurricanes player was most ready to perform at the pro level, even though he had played only one season of college football — as a backup.

So the coaches are in Vegas this weekend. Are we drafting California Chrome?

Yes and no. Is it spelled out "RFA is the same as NEFT"? No
It is an understood. The only difference between RFA and NEFT is that there are two First round draft picks and a calculated 1 year salary associated with the NEFT.

Both hit the market on the same date, both are free to shop at will, both give the clubs the right of first refusal of an offering teams contract.

Florio has a different interpretation but Florio is also the one that said jimmy has 3 years to appeal and that is incorrect. He either has not read the entire CBA and reads one section looking for things not stated assuming the answer or he doesn't have the capacity to grasp that some sections are governed by other sections (unless otherwise stated). Florio references "July 15th", that date is on Page 46 Atricle 10, Section 2, subsection (K), stating the Saints have until July 15th or the first Monday after is if falls on a weekend to sign a multi-year contract.

9./10.

Here is what Florio missed. In the Restricted Free Agency Section.
Page 37, Atricle 9, Section 2 (e)
Signing Period. The dates of the period in which Restricted Free Agents shall be free to negotiate and sign a Player Contract with any Club (the "Signing Period") shall be agreed upon by the NFL and the NFLPA by the previous September 1, but in no event may such Signing Period be less than thirty-five days, nor may it end later than five days before the Draft for that League Year, unless the parties agree other wise.

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

We cant trade him, he doesn't have a contract. Why file today, get the draft done first.
