Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

To hear some of the experts say it Jimmy has a more than better chance of winning. If he does I don't think we waste the cap space on him. We pay him his tender this year and just let him walk next year. Or sign and trade him idk.

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

We cant sign and trade him without eating the tag money and if he wins its 12ml to throw down the pan.

The interesting thing will be if the Saints win as he could be signed on the tag for the next two years for under $10ml each year.

Correct on all counts.

Probably penny wise/pound foolish. After the 2nd year he'd be eligible for QB money which the Saints cannot afford. So they'd have to let him go.

What they would do is leverage it for a decent long term deal that's cap friendly for the first 3 years and still the biggest TE contract in NFL history.

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

I wonder what shape his body will be in after 3/4 years. With the banning and fines for high hits players are going lower and them throws to the slot are giving players free shots and they could take there toll very quickly

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints should strike deal now - ESPN

"Most observers seem to agree that Graham is more likely to be declared a tight end than a receiver. And if that happens, Graham and agent Jimmy Sexton would also lose a great deal of leverage in their long-term contract negotiations with the Saints.

If Graham’s grievance is denied, the Saints could lock him up for two straight years with the franchise tag at costs of $7.035 million in 2014 and $8.44 million in 2015. And the Saints, therefore, wouldn’t have much incentive to offer Graham more than $10 million per year."

This is what I find maddening about Triplett, he writes the above and in the same article argues the Saints should sign him even though they'll probably win their case against Graham...

I'd like to see this thing geaux through arbitration and a logical person recognize that you can't reap the benefits of being a tight end, call yourself a tight end, and then argue for WR money...

I'd like the Saints to win this one then come back and sign Graham as the highest paid TE in the NFL...(for now, at least)

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

For any of you that still feel Graham is personally responsible for this whole issue, just check this out

Katherine Terrell ‏@Kat_Terrell 37m

NFL Management Council will make the argument for the Saints, NFLPA will argue on behalf of Graham.
This is, and always has been, nothing more than a power struggle between the NFLPA and the league. Graham just happens to be the player with the correct circumstances in place to be used in this challenge. As I have pointed out many, many times, he is nothing more than a pawn in the affair with no say.

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

I'm not mad at Jimmy but I'm irritated by the whole thing. I hope they rule he's a TE and he gets signed. If he gets the WR tag, I wouldn't blame them if the Saints try to get out of the tag and say **** it.
