Re: 2015 draft??
stumbled across this today.
4. New Orleans (from Oakland, Oakland gets pick #13, a 3rd round pick and DE Cam Jordan): Leonard Williams, DL, Southern Cal Why make this trade? It comes down to why would the Saints create a hole then try to fill it again? Why not stick with Cam Jordan and stay at 13? Two reasons: 1, Jordan is a good B/B+ level player and probably will never improve from that. Williams could be an A level player as a rookie and is a perfect fit for that defense. 2, Jordan’s making nearly 7 million this season and will become a free agent for a team that’s up against the cap. With the market for top end 3-4 defensive ends highly distorted towards the players, the Saints are figuring that they’re really saving a few million to upgrade the spot at the cost of a 3rd round pick. Jon Fox's Third 2015 NFL Mock Draft | VAVEL.com If he is there this does make sense for the reasons stated by Jon Fox. I still think the Bucs take Leonard Williams at 1. this is Lovie we are talking about here, I would love the pick. rather ship Jr off and let Jordan walk and play the comp pick game. At 31 31. New Orleans (from Seattle): AJ Cann, OG, South Carolina Why not Denzel Perryman? Perryman would help their defense, but they just dealt for Dannell Ellerbe and have David Hawthorne in place. After dumping Ben Grubbs onto Kansas City, they have a big hole on the left side of their offensive line. Cann made 40+ starts for an SEC school and can play anywhere in the interior of a line. which the "can play anywhere in the interior of a line" is not what i have been reading. I know OC is an option but RG? hmmm have to look at him some more |
Re: 2015 draft??
Thats alot to give up imo
I have read a few reports of people saying that Williams may never be a great pass rusher. Loosing the third hurts imo. |
Re: 2015 draft??
I haven't seen or read the name Ben Heeney thrown around much on this board but what impressions do any of you have on him?
He could be the most athletic ILB no one is talking about. |

"Stumbled across this"
Or "Jeanpierre just sent me an email" |
Re: 2015 draft??
I like my scenario better, give up a future first round pick (hopefully it'd be pick no. 32 in the 2016 draft) and swap pick 13 for 4 and our latter 5th pick for their fourth round pick...
Or just send Cam and pick 13 for their no. 4... Better still send Junior and pick 13 for no. 4... |

a lot to like. picks like this are hard. high motor guy flies all over place but i have watched the J-hawks a few time and the one negative i have is sloppy tackling. leverage and wrapping up is not his strong suit then again coaching could very well be the issue in Kansas and the reason why you do not really scout that system for defensive players. That could explain the scouting reports and all the bad guessing stuff. No one blames his instincts |
Re: 2015 draft??
Level of competition is another factor in the equation...
How do these guys stack up when playing elite (later NFL) talent?!? Some guys play lights out and maximize everything, but top out in college... How do their games translate to the NFL where nearly every defensive lineman can run at or under a 5.1 40 yd dash?!? Or by the second year in an NFL training room can bench 25-30 reps of 225 lbs?!? It's finding that limited film against elite competition or making those dominating plays that make you sit up in your seat - that's what you have to scour to find... |
