I think Anthony and Williams will be the studs of our draft haul this year. Super excited about both.... I just really hope Kikaha works out.... and after some time to digest it, I still hate the QB pick with all the fiery rage of a thousand burning suns.

Do we draft guard or trade for Mathis?

5th round? not sure you find starter material there and O-line players are going like crazy. Mathis has at least one more year left.

With FA and our picks in the draft so far we have significantly improved our secondary which I am very happy with. The amount of times there was tears on 3rd and plenty conversions last year should dissipate with our off season moves. This was our biggest problem last season.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft Day Discussion Thread

I think you can make a case the Andrus Peat was the BPA at that pick but I don't really think you can do that for any of our other picks. I like Anthony and Kikaha, but we drafted them too high and there were better players available. The Garrett Grayson pick is a joke. PJ Williams was okay, but I still think there were better players and I think you guys think that too.

Not me; a first round talent who fell because a DUI which charges were dropped.

He is our immediate starter at the nickel corner. Hell, he may be better than Browner at this point

And that's why they get paid to scout etc, and you don't

I had these rated higher
David Johnson,
Carl Davis,
Craig Mager,
Diggs, Stefon
Justin Hardy,

I did not even talk about him due to injury history. just like Kikaha. repeated injuries are red flags i should know the saints will ignore.

next year i am taking two wounded warriors at the least when guessing the saints picks. talent is not the issue at all really. IR possibility is my issue

Got lucky with Drew and have rolled snake eyes ever since and yet the saints continue to repeat the roll of the dice on IR player year in and year out. :argue:

Wrong Xavier-correct position (NT). We need Xavier WILLIAMS with our next pick in the 5th. Maybe even trade into bottom of the 4th to get him.

Quote:

Even though quarterback isn’t an immediate need, there’s merit to selecting a quarterback and seeing what happens. Brees is 36 and he only has two years left on his contract. Though he’s likely to stay productive for a number of years, in two years, he’ll be looking for another contract that will carry him into his 40s.

A long-term commitment at that point could mean paying him considerable amounts of money once his decline appears with no way out.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft Day Discussion Thread

Grayson's just bait for next years draft. 3rd best QB in the draft who sits under brees for a year. If Jamesis bust which I think he will and Mariota to. Then any rookie QB in the draft next year Gonna be a risk like always. So we trade him for a 2nd rounder or something maybe. Who knows the kid might just be brees 2.0.
An I know peat will end up being a beast how often we don't hit on linemen in the draft. An we usually get them late. Payton knew the kids dad this pick had a lot in it.
PJ beast pick so was Anthony.

An why not draft the best player at getting sacks in the ncaa. That reason alone caused teams to run more which helped Shelton numbers go up from stuffing runs common sense. He benefited from our guy not taking away his talent but you take away Hauoli sacking the hell out of the quarter back or the QB having to try and avoid pressure he's great but not as great. Just watch his own highlight video and there's quite a few times our guy effected him getting some glory.that pressure does wonders for a defense look for # 8

Great draft the saints have been doing there homework

Re: 2015 NFL Draft Day Discussion Thread

I think they had a plan and they stuck with it.. There choices for 13 was Shelton originally. That explains our 2nd round. Browns took Shelton right before so we went with "paytons" pick with peat. An the rest is as planned except maybe the Grayson pick. An the pj pick without the dui he goes in the 1-2.

Trade up for whst, just to give picks away? For the most part the picks have been solid high character guys that can contribute soon. What are you trading for, just to say you traded? This is the smartest draft the Saints have had in a long long time even with the Grayson pick.
