Re: Fire Sean Payton
I am amused that people still try to point to any one particular problem as the reason we suck. Blaming the cap, blaming inexperience, blaming Payton, the offensive line, and on the list goes.
Not everyone, but some people just want to point to one or two areas. I don't get that. I don't always believe in the old saying "you win as a team, you lose as a team". That's the nice PC thing to say, but sometimes you can play really well and have one or two guys totally screw it up. But this team? I see no strengths. Yes, our cap situation is horrible. It ALWAYS IS. Loomis is a problem pusher, not a problem solver. I say this year after year, only to be told that they know better than me, and I must not be a real fan, blah blah. I'm still waiting to be proven wrong. But giving Payton a pass because of the cap? I know we don't have the greatest players on offense, but then we always seem to get by with one or two stars and a bunch of "blue collar" guys who fit the system, right? Well that's the way it used to be. Have you seen the play calling? There is no imagination. We had a 4th and 1 inside the 5 and Sean calls a pass play that sends all four receivers to the right side. How do you get open when you draw the entire defense into one area and run your receivers into them? It's hopeless looking out there. Then you have old offensive linemen getting whipped, even with help, and a rookie who isn't even showing potential, that I can see. The defense... Well you know that story. Sorry, no one deserves a pass. I'm not even interested in discussing firings anymore. It'll be whatever it'll be. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Offensively we still have a HOF QB, Cooks, Snead, maybe Watson, Ingram, Armstead, Peat. We are a couple of players away from having a dangerous team. A legit number 1 receiver, one or two stout offensive lineman and a pass rusher. I agree though nobody will want to coach here. We are a mess as far as the salary cap and the only way to free up space would be to get rid of Brees which is about the ONLY redeeming quality a coach would consider when thinking of working here. The talent as I mentioned above doesnt look as enticing as it does with a Drew Brees. like it or not the future of the Saints here in New Orleans is an unknown. If Rita wins what will she do with the team? Coaches will consider that as job security is tough enough in the NFL as it is. I would love to have harbaugh though. |

Remember when it was said after this game in preseason that not having Grham could hurt us in the redzone? Well we faced that exact situation we faced in preseason. |

Re: Fire Sean Payton
And Im called negative sometimes lol.
There is something wrong going on. Been happening since SP was kicked out for the year by goodell. Years before that we atleast made the playoffs, but defence ended those runs. Cant put my finger on it. Maybe SP just lost the passion, and is just coaching as a job. I dont see players afraid of him anymore or the usually sideline passion. Could be he really does have a drinking or other problem, and no one is talking about it. Would explain alot. In which case Im for helping him and keeping him. I really dont feel like these games are being pre-planned like it used to be. Feels like they are winging it, and caught flat footed. Think maybe SP should not have God rights. He seems to hire friends, players he likes more than talent. Poor judge of defensive needs. I think loomis has to go, and the buddy buddy network broken up. Put a GM over SP that can whip him back into shape. Demands explanations. Picks his own DC. I mean get serious SP offences since 2006 ranking 1-5 in the NFL is some kind of record. Hes an brillant OC . He just needs to lose some control of things. Parcels as a GM would not take SP's sh#t, and want to know how he got blown out by the redskins and texans. Throwing SP away could be a huge mistake. Brees should stay for 2 seasons until we can get a new franchise QB. Still think Colt McCoy needs a shot. We are not going to get anyone better than Brees, even though he's losing a step. Id rather see a rational migration in 3 years. Starting with firing Loomis and giving the GM control over the team, for awhile. Reduce SP's role, as a slap on the wrist. GM can look over the new DC and all coaching to see if they need replacing. Last thing I want to see is SP in Atlanta. Big mistake, he has alot of the tools he needs there. nah, Im not into throwing the babe out with the bath water. SP is a top 5 coach in the NFL, and keep Brees to give us time to replace him with someone really really good. At least with Brees and good OL we have a shot. I dont want to revert to pre 2006. That would be a mistake and might last for 5-10 years after a clean house. Any great coach out of retirement is just going to be looking for a big paycheck and rusty, and no Gruden was never that good of a coach or did we forget that. Really he has King as his QB? lol. Be like the Ditka era. |
Saints proved that pigs could fly in 2009.
Now its time for another miracle SuperBowl and go where no pig has gone before. Last edited by pherein; 11-29-2015 at 07:47 PM.. |

Clearly you didn't actually watch the game, game cast doesn't count. Easily the worst offensive performance of the year and Brees looked awful along with bad play calling. |
