Re: Underwhelmed

SP and ML pick the guys the scouts laid out. Also, SP and ML like to pick the underdogs. Which is why that Onyemata pick happened.

Re: Underwhelmed

Many times Payton wants to make the splash

His mojo worked in 2006-2010

Big draft trophies Ingram took years to produce
Get the best free agent. Byrd, Spiller, Browner
The Nigerian Canadian when tried need players were on the board has me scratching my head

They showed a little restraint thankfully in this draft

And urfa crop looks like it could help out alot

Too bad he didn't clean house on positional coaches

Offnsive line hasn't been there since Aaron Kromer left

This is what Loomis had to say on why whathisname was drafted really early...

Can you talk about what you liked so much about David Onyemata?

“That is an interesting story. Obviously, you guys heard from him and got to know about the story now from his coach. We were really intrigued with his talent. We recognized that he wasn’t playing in an SEC school obviously, so there are some questions about the level of competition. Man, we like the traits and the talent. We liked the guy, the makeup of the player and we went aggressively to go get him. We had some information and I am pretty confident that he wouldn’t have been available to us if we would have stayed right where we were at. We’re excited to have him and I would say that we see some versatility in this player. We’re expecting some early contribution. This isn’t a guy that is just going to sit and not be productive for us. I think we expect some early contributions from him.”

I like the explanation of why we drafted the individual, but the position is what I still don't get. You go DT first round, have already signed Fairley, and still have Jenkins, who, while not a bright spot, din't suck as bad as everyone else.
If Loomis and SP knew that the slew of UDFA guards would be available, then they are either lucky or geniuses

I'm going with both mostly genius seasoned with a little bit of luck...

Re: Underwhelmed

And Fairley/Jenkins both have to be re-signed after this year, so that adds to the reason of going DT in the first...
