We all hope for the best because we are all Saints fans, but you can't look at how we dominated the 2009 Preseason and then look at how absolutely horrid we have been this preseason and pretend that neither matter. Preseason by no way dictates the season, I agree, but the sloppy play and the oline looking like an open gate does not instill confidence. Plus, this is a team that has had back to back 7-9 seasons, and looked exactly how we look in preseason to start the last two years. It is becoming trend. Can we have a winning season, of course. Can we do that if the play of the oline remains the same, absolutely not. There are real concerns with this team, real concerns, and none of them are more worrisome then what we have seen from the oline. Better hope Barnes starts at guard and helps it because right now we look like shat, absolute shat. ![]()
For the record there are people running around on here somehow pretending this is the 09-11 team, and have some false sense of bravado. None better than the reply to a post about how you could recognize this team was not ready for the season because SP had the starters playing the first quarter of the 4rth preseason game- "Eh payton just wants to show we still got it". delusional. |
Your team stinks

Step aside rookies!!! Here's how you do it!
The Saints will win between 0 - 16 regular seasons games and the front office and coaching staff may or may not be here! |

Re: Is Sean Paytons Job safe if we miss the playoffs?
Super Dome is still sold out, Payton hasn't done anything overly embarrassing, won a Super Bowl, Benson still making a ton of money, that pretty much gives Payton a life time contract. Now that can change if say only 50k people show up for Saints home games, Payton starts acting like Ditka did, and perhaps Benson would run him at that point.

If he gets a guard or two that can actually frigan play he will look like a genius again...absent that we're likely in holy trouble

I dont like Vitt as a coach at all.
How many LB under him have improved? All i have seen are his players not wrap up in tackles and constantly get ran over. |

Re: Is Sean Paytons Job safe if we miss the playoffs?
So, an 0-3 start
Two back to back 7-9 seasons, defense is worse than last year in terms of points allowed and Brees is once again having to try to score every possession. Payton not getting the team prepared, bad drafts and a failure to stick to schemes (drafting 3-4 players and then switching to a 4-3) has finally caught up with us. Injuries have played a part but cannot be blamed alone, this team is 4-11 in the last 15 home games!! Payton has kept Darymple (strength and conditioning coach), Vitt, McMahon, Dennis Allen and Bill Johnson all in a job when it's obvious that they all suck!! Nothing would make me happier than for Payton to be handed his leaving papers, has anyone changed their mind from when this thread was originally posted by myself? |
