this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I think you missed Who\'s sarcasm. Who believes this team that is only 5 mil under the cap should not only keep Howard at 7.8 mil or sign him to the deal he wants(ya know with the 16 mil bonus), ...

Joe Horn wants to be a Falcon ...
The highest paid WR in the NFL is Randy Moss. He makes 8.6 million a year on average. Fifth highest is T.O. - he makes 7.2 million a year. Horn currently makes an average of 4 million. So I guess it\'s OK to pay Joe Horn 6.5 million or 7 million a season, but paying him 7.2 million a season is just too much. Who, exactly, do you guys think the Saints are going to sign for $200,000 to $700,000 a season that will make the loss of Joe Horn worth it??? |

Joe Horn wants to be a Falcon ...
you must not be talking to me, cause I wouldn\'t guarantee Joe the 7-10 range. I would make offer him a contract with incentives that reach top 5 range if he puts up numbers similar to those he already has. To me, that is the most fair deal for Joe and the team. You keep producing these numbers, you keep getting paid like it. You don\'t keep these numbers, you don\'t get paid like it. But Joe\'s comments are that he wants a top 5 contract no ifs ands or buts. Mike Williams would come cheaper than that. Trade Joe to Minny for a shot at him. I will bet anything this time next season, and 5 years from now when Mike can still play, you will be saying Joe who?

Joe Horn wants to be a Falcon ...
This is why I dislike the offseason. Things get blown out of proportion. All of a sudden the prospect of having to play with two Pro Bowlers next season translates into certain doom. Right, b/c if the Saints trade Howard and Horn right now, they will DEFINITELY sign another WR of the #1 starting top 5 or even top 10 variety AND they\'ll sign a stud LB AND they\'ll come to terms with Deuce and Bentley and McKenzie overnight. Sure they will. You guys are basing these beliefs on what? Past performance of the team?? Considering how little credit people here have given Loomis and Haslett, I can\'t understand why you would want them making any changes - they certainly haven\'t made very good ones in the past. |
