He is 5'11 and not quick and when up against Julio,Evans,Jackson,Funchess and Benjamin 6 times a year you have to worry how Atlanta exposed them.

Sterling Moore did a decent job for me last year, especially considering the issues rushing the passer. He was fantastic and absoloutley screwed by the refs against the Giants, kept Beckham quite until the BS PI call at the end

I believe the thinking, and I tend to agree with it, is that in our system he would not play as well as Moore did for us.

I'd have to disagree with that.

Im not saying Moore is a great CB or even a number 2. But he played well at time last year under alot of pressure.

Butler could be a great CB but look at the players that leave NE. Very rarely do they go on to do better outside the Pats system. Browner and Revis but looked excellent for the Pats and terrible outside the system. I fear that Butler at over 14ml would be a massive bust,Moore would be reasonably priced and wouldn't kil the cap if it went wrng

If Butler is going to cost $14 million I have no interest in him. If he's in the $8 million to $10 million range I'm all for it. Aqib Talib was great in the Pats system, and was great after. Revis was great before the Pats system, great there, and just injured after. Browner really wasn't great in the Pats system, they just made it work. But if corners seem to perform better in the Patriots scheme than they do else where....we might need to consider adopting that scheme ourselves.

Exactly. Bill is the best in the league when it comes to evaluating and identifying players who fit his system, and he's also the best at knowing when to cut ties. I'm not saying I wouldn't pull for Butler if he ends up here. I'd want him to be an all pro. But I have serious reservations.

Lots of reports from a few days back that Butler had turned down 14ml a year, though his agent is saying they are not asking for the moon.

He is going to want at least parity with the two big deals this year with his 2nd team All Pro so its going to be at least 12ml

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

He ranked as the number 2 CB last year so will be asking very big money.

Malcolm Butler, New England Patriots, 86.4
Outside of Talib, there really hasn’t been a corner that has been consistently “shutdown,” but Malcolm Butler has had a fine season, outside of a couple of lapses. Against Miami back in Week 2, he surrendered 157 receiving yards, and he coughed up another 94 against Pittsburgh; beyond those games, he has given up 35 yards or fewer on six of his eight outings, and over the entire season, has allowed just 52.9 percent of passes into his coverage to be caught, despite occasionally being asked to track elite receivers.

The big flag there is occasionally being asked to track elite receivers

Yeah, and look at the other QB's in that division. Not exactly a murderers row of talent. When Ryan Tannehill is the second best in the division you know somethings up.
