Basically we got a second round pick for the 7th most receiving yards in the league last year. Even more impressive is he did that with MT being 9th.

Drew has shown year after year he can make players better

If Cooks was as great as some people want to say why were teams not knocking down the door offering a mid round first or late 1 and 4th.

Because the titans have a promising qb, a promising RB, a elite tight end, a wide receiver they drafted last year that's a mini Cooks. They didn't NEED Cooks. They're a team on the move to playoff status.

A malcontent is a malcontent. Cooks bugged the crap out of me when he complained about not being more involved after the team won games.

After some consideration, I like this trade. No big contract for the soon to be 5'9" second fiddle and five picks in the first three rounds in this year's draft.

And the eagles signed AJ, a better receiver than Cooks but it's close.

Here's what I think is strange. It seems like the Pats have too many receivers now, as far as I know. Hogan, Amendola, Edelman, Cooks, Malcolm Mitchell, not to mention Gronk, Lewis, White. Couldn't have we gotten Amendola in return? He's a skilled pro.

Not seeing this. I can foresee less than 1000 yards, more complaining, and in Buffalo at this time next year.

One team
What about the others?

If Cooks is that good and the Pats stole him for Peanuts why did nobody else make an offer that was better

The Browns have above 76 picks so why didnt the offer something as they habe no WR. Plenty of teams had the ammo to make a better offer, nobody did. The price is made by the market. There wasnt a big market for him.

The team has been stagnant for 3 years now. And Cooks was an expendable piece that wasn't going to be extended. So improve the defense.

Is it guaranteed no,but uts not in NE either.

I'm beyond ****** this is a horrible deal for the Saints and it gives a deep threat to the Patriots. Way to go Loomis

And we all know the Saints are going to screw up these 2 draft picks up too

So we get what basically an early second and 4th round pick for our 4th rounder and former 1st round receiver.

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

History says that we will get the short end of the sticks. Ginn is not the same player he was two seasons ago. He has gotten slower and took advantage of a lot of one on one coverages that he saw in Carolina. He will not see that in N.O. and he has never shown the ability to go up a get the ball. We are one injury at WR from being in bad shape. I can already see the ball sailing through Ginn's hand on a short route and going back the other way. I hope I'm wrong but I see us as getting the short end of the sticks on this trade.

I don't care what anyone says....we have a problem in our locke room culture especially on offense. Too many players the last 5 seasons have had problems where they have come out and said something to the media. We cannot afford to screw this up like we did two seasons ago. The Patriots instantly got better and all we have is potential. If we want to win now we cant draft projects and we can't afford anymore 1st Rd picks that end up injured for 3/4 of the season.

Who care if the Pats got better if we are still 7-9 and cant get out the division. Worry about the Pats when we have a team and DEFENSE food enough to get to the dance

Great trade. The Saints got a 1st rd pick, saved $1 million, and moved on from a disgruntled player who was going to walk after the 2017 season.

This is ridiculous. I'm sorry, but I'm not even going to try to put a positive spin on this. We get the lowest possible first round pick, and a 3rd rounder, which doesn't exactly "sweeten" the deal very much to begin with, but then we have to give THEM a 4th?

What the crap is that about?

We aren't a 2-receiver offense. I don't think Tommy Lee is ready and it's a reach to think to Coleman can step it up and be Colston-like. Ted Ginn is just a guy to sub in once in a while at this point in his career. We don't need a guy just like Cooks but we need another receiving weapon.

Not the deal I had hoped for. That being said I think that the fact that Cooks and his new agent Let this become public killed our leverage in the deal.
Cooks was a Malcontent had lost the respect of his teammates.
I am disappointed that we didn't get Butler and# 32 and swap Cooks and our #2 that was rumored.
Drafting at 32 could easily net us some extra picks
Lets Move on.

Just echoing others, but Cooks was a luxury. We won't go over the top enough to keep him happy here. That's not against him, but this was all about the fact that we were not now nor ever going to pay him like Julio Jones. We did him a favor and saved ourselves a headache that had already started, and we got a couple picks in a defense-rich draft.

That's a win. I have a feeling we like somebody in the draft a lot...just guessing...

Barring someone we love being there at #32 , #33 is actually a better pick . You have all night to work a trade for some team moving up .

After they rape us they try to share us with their buddies by trading Malcolm which will turn out to be a cap hit that will stop the shop for High Quality FA talent after the draft.

I see how Patriots operate, they reel you in with a nice beneficial trade like
Hoomanawanui then they sucker punch with this BC trade, now they want to f*>k us with a Malcolm Butler trade. Loomis or Payton whichever, need to get their head back in the game and stop being so desperate

5th year option. Pick is at the end of round 1, enticing for some other team to offer additional picks to jump in that spot.

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

So we traded Cooks and our 118th pick, to move up 15 picks and gain a 32nd pick.

The Patriots won this trade easily, they didn't send us a defensive player, they got a player worth much more than the 32nd pick and for good measure they got a 4th from us. The great SP and mickey loomis duo strike again.

If we had atleast kept our 4th and gained their 3rd as well as the 32nd I could have lived with it, or if they sent us a defender. They fleeced us and SP/Loomis allowed it.

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

Well the option here were really between getting a first rounder and some change in return for Cooks or having him for another year and then probably cutting him for cap reasons because there is NO way we would ever have paid him the $10M per year he will command.

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

I still don't see how we lost much in this trade. Cooks was a deep threat guy only. He wasn't our so called #1 WR or even our so called #2. It isn't like he was a QB either.

He was a guy who started to show he didn't like playing here and was going to be due a big pay day eventually.

Could we have done better... probably but it is what the market gave us to move him. We really have to move some O players that we could live without and as much as I like him, looking at it as business this is a move we have to make to get some D talent.

It all comes down to how this pick is used.
