I really hope he keeps running that mouth. 2 new young bookends would be looking good on this young line. They could all grow together. Jordan is nowhere near a game changer and between him running that mouth and the bar incident he could find himself on thin ice pretty quick and rightfully so.

I thought Cam had his best season for us last year. I haven't read what he wrote, is it bad??

are you listening to yourself?

We got a deal doesn't matter what it was... the deal is done. lol.

There is no price on Cooks head except the one you get/accept/take what every term you want to use. That is the market value of a player and that is what you can get for a player. I personally don't think there was a better deal on the table for a one deminsional WR.

There are other factors at play including a contract. NE needs to assume they may have his services for only one year. You fact that into the equation as well.

FACT: it is the right time to move him. He stays and we won't get anything for him when he moves on.

Cooks is not one dimensional. He's not a big body WR but he is easily a top 10 WR. He can go up and get the ball, go across the middle, and go deep. You have to remember that he is only 23.

I'm guessing the extended wait Friday was we were trying to get the best deal. This was the best deal on the table

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

Cooks was an expendable asset. To get a first round pick in return was a win. Thomas has emerged as a number one and Snead is more than capable, or whoever decide to play there, to hold down the 2 spot with the way our offense is run.

I don't think we utilized Cooks to his full potential and I don't believe we ever were. With the holes on this team, it was smart to move him now while we could get the return that we got before his price tag continues to rise and his trade compensation decreases.

Let's get this defense rolling... scoring points has never been the issue here. Hopefully we make good of drafting and developing this draft pick.

This part is true, and how many times have we said we should have got something etc. From that standpoint I agree, but think we could have got more if we had waited. I think the deal would have been great if we had got the third with nothing in return to them

Still feel liked we got arse raped, but only time will tell. I hope 32 is great defensive help and BC does nothing much up in NE

See at first I thought so as well but the more I look at it... it not the greatest trade but it isn't horrible either IMO.

However the latest development of we could trade the 4th pick back in that round pick up something... NE is going to lose that pick no matter what so it doesn't matter if we move the pick pack.

I'm comfortable with the trade now as well. At this point I'd like to see us add Demarcus Ware on a 1 year deal and pick up Eddie Lacy.

Wasn't terrible but he's been pretty silent since the bar incident until this but he seems like he wants a say with things like keeping Fairley, drafting cb.'s and now with the Cooks trade, he's not bad at his position but he has alot to desire in his game overall. I'm not as high on him as alot of people here are.

Wow, when you go to many of the main news sites, especially when logging out of hotmail or comcast, the thread link or title of the trade articles basically says...

Patriots trade

Guess what everyone outside of Saints Nation is thinking...

New York market hates the Saints for not only sending Cooks to their division, but for getting fleeced in return...

We got a first and a third, but they really should have been further up in each round, and not made the defending SuperBowl Champs, better...

But, hey, New England has been my 1A team since the days of John Hannah, Steve Grogan and Stanley Morgan; also a Red Sox and Celtics fan...

So I'll still pull for Cooks who's also on my Joe Sam's Keeper League till Hagan and the guys pull another audible on me... ;)

Addition by subtraction...I like cooks, he's a great WR. But he is gonna be wanting a big payday soon and I think Thomas is better for the team. The way I see it, better a 1st round pick and an upgrade to the other pick than to deal with the diva attitude he has began to display and the possibility that he walks away as a FA.

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

Ok let's cut all of this cooks was one dimensional crap out. He was a player that could basically do it all,and with his speed that was rare. There are only three players that had 1,000 yards, 75 catches and 8 touchdowns the last two years and he's one of them, Odell Beckham, and Antonio brown are the others. With that being said he's gone and we hear this talk about the defense again. Here's the real deal, they better get it right this time or they just wasted another draft (2014).

Meaning he is not our concern, worry, or having to deal with a substantial impending contract his agent will demand after the 2017 season. The Saints save money for the future, get a draft pick, get rid off a player that surprisingly opened his mouth after a win... good luck to him in NE though.

well Ingram did the same during a game we were winning .

That's the whole reason for doing it. Moving him won't hurt our offense much, if any at all. The extra 1st rounder and the 15 place move up later helps to give us a better chance to improve the defense. Would I have liked more for him? Hell yeah, and so would Payton, but you take what the market offers and that was the best offer.

Unless im mistaken Ingram never cried he wasn't getting work in a team victory. Ingram is definetley emotional and gets frustrated but not at the expense of the team

Cooks moaning gives out the attitude "Id rather have 150 yards on 8 receptions in a loss, than no receptions in a win"

Re: Brandin Cooks Officially Traded to Patriots

The fact is that we weren't going to pay him the kind of money another team will pay him. It is no fault against us and no fault against him. The deal doesn't sparkle and shine, but imo this is one where the player wins, and we win too.

It was bound to happen again - a game where he doesn't get the ball. We don't need that drama, particularly if we already know we aren't going to pay top market value for him. Best for him to move on and best for us to get something in return. The market said what it said and that's that. The only real conspiracy might be that we took less to send him some place good since by all accounts he was well liked. But who knows?

And don't sell Ginn short either. He put up decent numbers with Cam 'the sham' Newton. I suspect he might do just fine here.
