With the additions of AP, Ginn and now a young Kamara, this offense could be deadly in 2017.
Offense has pretty much been deadly every year that Payton has coached the Saints!

This should definitely increase our red zone efficiency... screens to Kamara just one more thing to worry about! and if you get AP and Kamara in a split back formation; uh oh!

We have been missing a good/reliable satellite running back for the last few years. We have tried different ways to address the position, but they have failed. I don't have stats readily available but we were fairly inconsistent on 3rd down conversions last year. With Kamara now in the fold, things should be different on offense. Being able to roll clock (win the time of possession battle), move the chains on 3rd down attempts & capitalize in the red zone (TD's NOT fg's) makes you a deadly offensive team.

The Saints had the best 3rd down percentage in the league last season and the second best 4th down percentage.

NFL Stats: by Team Category

The Saints were also pretty good at redzone TD efficiency.

But I do agree with you that Kamara should give the team more options than they had last year.

Agree with what you guys are posting. I am hoping Kamara pans out to be kind of like Shane Vereen, maybe not a lot of 'wow' factor but very versatile and consistent.

But there is just this 10% of me that knows the damage Jamaal Charles used to do. In his prime, I don't know there has ever been a more dangerous weapon on swing passes and screen passes mixed with the running game - right up there with Marshall Faulk and Curtis Martin. And most of the years in KC apart from Dwayne Bowe, Charles had to do it all by himself.

That kind of a weapon, along with Brees and Payton on top of things, the sky would be the limit!

Don't forget about doubling him up with Ingram who isn't too shabby in the passing game himself.

I think the reason they drafted Kamara, whether it was right or not, is that they saw a guy with first round talent sitting there in the third and thought to themselves "Ingram and Peterson won't be around forever, so why not draft our guy now, and work him in slowly, rather than have to replace those guys a couple of years from now with a rookie".

Obviously, they can use Kamara in a Sproles/Bush type role, but unlike what most pundits are saying, I don't think he's quite that type of player. He is a good receiver, but I wouldn't define him as a scat back. He's a bit better of an all around RB, at least on paper. I really think they view him as the main guy in a couple of years.

I wouldn't have picked him there, though I do think he is a good value for what he is, but I'm trying think along with the Saints on this one to figure out what the reasoning was.
If he was rated that high, why not spend pick No. 32 or No. 42 on him?

Really like the possibilities of Marcus Williams, but we've got several safeties already, one of which we spent two picks to get as well...

And Kamara at his current weight/build is not touching the ball for 20x's a game for 16 games...

And J Charles was the offense in KC, every defense keyed on him all game; here in New Orleans, he'd been a third-down back

Because they could pick up other players they wanted and still get him later. Why use a #32 or #42 when you can use a #64 from next year?
