A few years back, I was injured and needed to have a third surgery on my right knee. The doctor that completed my first two surgeries suggested I consult with Deryk Jones. As soon as I met him, I felt like I was visiting with the Morris Bart of Orthopedic Surgeons.

His diagnosis and recommendation was so vastly different (and WRONG) than what I had already discussed I RAN out of his office.

Ultimately I saw a third doctor, who couldn't believe what Dr. Jones had indicated was the problem. Everything's been fine ever since. Glad I didn't trust DJ.
That is one hell of a first post! Been lurking?

I was waiting to post something with substance!

I noticed after the fact that my account was 4 years old with no posts.

They had this dude walking around with a fractured fibula telling him "It's just a bruise, man up!"

Well, well, well. Whaddya know. Team doctors mis-diagnosed an injury. Seems to me lots of folks here have been scratching their heads in regards to our medical staff.

One call, that's all!

Initial Dx wrong b/c of suboptimal image quality(swelling), but due to FO pressure, had to Dx SOMETHING, later imaging reveals fracture, team has to fire ortho to save face because they had already run with it.

Sounds about right. Move long overdue anyway though.

I can see this scenario. What I read on stress fractures versus bone contusions mentioned the difficulty in an appropriate diagnosis until the enema has subsided. Although, you would expect the doctors to error on the conservative side and treat it as a fracture until they could tell for sure. I could see them being pressured into a premature decision. But, that is on them for giving in if it was the case.

Yeah I kinda said it tongue and cheek, playing devil's advocate, but I've seen real scenerios like it before. It's unfortunate all three ways, Ochsner, Delvin, and the Saints.

I know there's pressure but you have to do the right thing -- but then Payton's also under pressure to win, and the injury thing is really bugging him.

So, really it's hard to point at one party saying, "everything's egregious!" when we can't possibly know all sides of the story.

Re: Saints Fire Orthopedists

Those doctors must of took a page from james woods character on any given sunday or are the most incompetent doctors in sports. I can see former saints players suing the team if they were diagnosed by those clowns if they couldn't play anymore from a misdiagnosed injury that got worse.
