this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Show me how many games Duece was 100% healthy but too fat and out of shape to play and I will call him a thief. Then show me Deuce or any other player in the NFL in the media buffet ...

Riddle me this:?
saintwhodi --
I don\'t think Decue is a \"thief\". Nor do I think ANYone on the team is a \"thief\". I\'m not going to sit here and try to prove Deuce is a thief when I don\'t think he is a thief. I made the silly comparison to make a point. And obviously it didn\'t get through. Take Randy Moss for example. He quits on his team. Walks off the field. He certainly isn\'t paid to do that. But he isn\'t a \"thief\". Calling someone a \"thief\" is WAY over-the-top. I think anyone calling someone on the Saints a \"thief\" is just trying to make an extreme statement and get folks riled up. In any case, my definition, and Webster\'s Dictionary, is much different than some of yall\'s definition. [Edited on 29/4/2005 by GumboBC] |

I... can\'t... resist:
Although, you were the one who said \"literal\". You wouldn\'t say that Sully is literally poo, would you? You just meant \"metaphorically\", like with the poo. |

Yeah Kool, the poo was metaphorical, and I wanted to make you laugh. But I still stand by the thief part.

ROFLMAO. I\'m with Kool, that was freaking hilarious. The whole thief business is quintessential Billy arguing. 1. Start an argument on a topic and take a view that everyone will disagree with. Tell people to prove me wrong. \"Rip it apart guys!!\" 2. Get ripped apart. 3. Argue a bad position just to argue. Make ridiculous comparisons until... 4. You can redirect the conversation by focusing in on something a person said metaphorically and trying to construe it literally. Usually, this is something not relevant to the discussion. 5. Say that you\'re all really friends and that you never really believed what you were arguing all along - it was somebody else\'s idea. |

WhoDat --
Now, we\'re back to talking about WHY folks say what they say. I actually got this post off of another board. And it got me to thinking about players being given 2nd chances. McPheason and Sullivan are both being given second chances by the Saints. So, that\'s what both have in common. Although it\'s for completely different reasons. It\'s a valid point. I really don\'t care if I\'m in the majority with my opinions or not. If someone wants to make an \"extreme\" statement ... like Sullivan is a \"thief\", then I might make an \"extreme\" statement, like saying Deuce McAllister is a \"thief\", to make a point. IMHO, saying Sullivan is a \"thief\" is an over-the-top statement which really never needing saying in the first place. Unless they just like making over-the-top statements.
