I do too but here is my reasoning on Barrett. JT has a good arm, solid pocket presence & he's got "I've played for a top 10 program" accuracy throwing into tight windows. I don't think he is ready, but he at least looks like he has the tools to get ready. Give the guy some extra reps & see if he can become the #2.

I don't disagree. After what I saw last week I'd give Barrett a real shot at #2. The kid looks savvy, and the two guys in front of him looked like poo.

Bottom line is that if Brees goes down we are screwed.

Question for you guys ...

Do you believe the Saints will cut Tom Savage & roll with J.T "The Ohio State" Barrett & Taysom Hill?

In my opinion I don't think SP will cut a veteran QB and leave the backup
role to Rookies. Historically SP usually rolls that way but it seems that he
really likes Taysum, J.T. could be the odd man out.

I think we all realize it, almost like we are running on borrowed time.
Every game I hold my breath when Drew takes a hit, and of course
comes the short prayer...
Please Lord we Who Dats don't ask for much if there's any way you can
keep him upright for just one more season.

I know I'll probably get flamed for this (I may deserve it) but I think we've bought too much into that angle. In 11, 12+ years, coach has yet to develop even a backup QB despite taking more than a half dozen bites at the apple. Just about every season we've been left with hoping a veteran can fill the role. I've come to believe that it's simply about talent & we just lack it at the position behind the Great Drew Brees :D.

I hope within the next couple of years, we pick high with real proven talent at the collegiate level & develop at the QB position.

Brees can't do it forever.

Not sure how we'd be able to pick high coming off back to back Lombardi's.

Just saying.

Agree 100%. J.T. has those intangibles that are off the charts. It seems no situation is too big for him.

Accuracy can be taught, and he's already pretty darned accurate to boot. His command & the respect he carries as a rookie is unreal. You can't teach that. He can be developed b/c he grasps concepts so quickly as his football IQ is remarkable.

We've now seen Taysom in the big moment crumble under the expectations put on him. Sure it was 1 half & he can certainly rebound, but it's a bit unsettling if he's the #2 and being one hit away from commanding this offense in this division. Honestly I'd take J.T. over Taysom & Savage in that situation.

There may be something to the hand size issue (which I've no knowledge of as being factual as I've not researched). But the 2 picks weren't on him, I'd put both on the WRs. Across the middle hit him square in the hands and went right thru. Ginn got beat out for position by the DB and gave up on the play from the way I saw it play out.

The fumbles are coachable moments and we'll see if he learns from the experience. I haven't heard a single peep before this preseason game of this being an issue. If it truly was I'm pretty sure there would have been more on the issue during camp before now.

Did none of you people bashing him see the way he got out of the one pressure where he scrambled right and made a great throw to turn a negative play into a positive one. First down if I'm not mistaken to Arnold (I think? I gotta watch it again). The big thing out of that play was the reaction by Payton and the rest of the coaching staff. They seemed pretty psyched on that play and that was after the previous mishaps where you'd think they'd not be so impressed.

In the end...who am I gonna go with on thoughts about the #2?? You guys or Payton, Carmichael, and Lombardi??? I'll give you a clue...it's probably not anyone reading this forum post!!!

Whoa! Slow down there big boy! We are all on the same team here! We don't usually call members out and work graciously to find common ground without resorting to subtle name calling.

I'm glad to see you posting more though. Welcome back.:bng:

EDIT: I like Hill. Read my earlier posts.

As far as Hill goes, I keep hearing how good he is on special teams but nothing he has done sticks out in my mind. I feel like I would remember at least a play or two since he’s such an ace.

he had a few last year. can't remember how many exactly
