Re: 2019 Saints NFL Free Agency

Why is anyone willing to give up anything more than a 5th for AJ Green

Missed 8 games last year
Not played this year
Out of contract at end of season
Going to want 15ml plus a season after that and will be 32 before season starts.

Pats WR Phillip Dorsett might be a possibility.

The probability is high that AJ doesn't get healthy before the trade deadline ends anyway. Pretty difficult to pull that off on a inactive player.

AJ is a top tier talent that is a game changer when healthy though.

All I know is that Tre' is OUT, Kamara is OUT and so is Cook and we have literally no production behind those guys. Emmanuel Sanders would have been a perfect fit in New Orleans.

Michael Thomas is GREAT but he needs productive, consistent help along side of him.

How do you afford paying Thomas, Kamara, Green, Brees,Cam, Rankins, Lattimore the rest of the Offensive and Defensive line?.

Green too expensive to keep and its a long term roster killer to give up a 1st for him.

Who in here said give up a 1st for Green?

Post that quote because I sure as hell didn't.

They have been talking about it needing to be a first on NFL Radio for the last couple of days.

Sorry, not sorry, Major - agree with you that we do need a jumpstart at WR on the outside, but that's waaay too much draft capital...

^^^ agreed.

I still believe that initial Sanu trade to the Pats really spoiled it for everyone else.

Plan B? Devante' Parker? Or the WR from the Titans (name escapes me) ?

I'll be surprised if the Packers don't land AJ Green before the deadline.

Corey Davis? Don't think that'd fly in the Titans locker room nor the small market fan base as they're only a 1 -1/2 back of the Colts; however, their division record sucks; see how this game goes with Tanneyhill at QB...

That's him.

On the flip side, remember many thought Eli was a "distraction". Titans simply have a wimpy and unstable locker room & culture.

With Marcus Marriota suckage and subsequent benching, I expect the Titans to fall further back within the coming weeks with Tanneyhill leading the troops.

Kelechi Osemele is being released rather than going to IR. Jets screwing up here as a grievence going on. Surgeons have said he needs surgery but Jets refusing.might be worth a look with Peat likely gone next year.

Payton was a big fan of his during the draft process, but the fact this guy can stick around makes say, we'd better do a lot of homework on him first...

That'd be real expensive on two fronts - one, G'nats will want a high draft pick, and two, he's got a strong cap number...

Yes it would be but here's a question for you ...

Last year the Lambs (Rams) snagged Suh, then terrorized us in the NFCCG. They are extremely active in grabbing anyone (Dante' Fowler) they could to get to the Bowl & now this season Jalen Ramsey.

Do the front office have that much confidence in our WR core (excluding Thomas) to sit on our hands or do you make a move before the deadline today?

Listening at the replay of Loomis interview last night ... doesn't sound like he's motivated to make a trade or he's simply telling a lie.

I guess we'll find out :bng:

Cincy had a golden opportunity to unleash a aging player & at least get something in return yet they did nothing but sit on their hands.

Don't feel sorry for the Bengaloos at all.

I sure hope Burrow doesn't end up in Cincy and that terrible franchise.

Unfortunate for Green though. He's been a great player but injuries have started to take it's toll.

Seems a massive kick in the balls these latest injuries after a string of I juries this year and the title games screw up last year.

It'll be extremely tough to get to the superbowl this year now imho, though not given up hope while Drew is under centre. Though I do think this might stop any thoughts of Drew walking into the sunset this year.

Not being defeatist just honest opinion in a stack NFC.
Either way I think this will mean a high comp pick in 2021 for Bridgewater which will be a rarity.

I was thinking of the chance there will be a shortened season in 2021 with a player strike. Might be the perfect year to make a change with less pain and a possible high pick

This is how you separate mediocre coaches from the great ones.

Dennis Allen & his assistants are about to earn those salaries.

Difficult road ahead however not impossible.

Yep. Payton's history has been to go with Free Agent solutions over the NFL Draft...

Maybe he's finally waking up to the reality that you got to have a lot of youth to minimize the injury bug and to avoid Cap Hell...
