Maybe the front office didn't have enough "trust" in Ziggy's shoulder or his ability to stay on the field .. specifically in late November.

Saints still need another DE though.

Makes sense now. He wouldn’t be much help right off the bat.

Defenses are going to have issues covering Cook in 2019. Thomas should have less double teams, especially when SP lines up Kamara in the slot.

RedZone, up the seams etc. Jared's ability to separate is key for me with that initial burst off the line.

The Cook FA signing is exactly what Drew & the run game needs ... someone to keep linebackers honest.

SUH or Wilkerson on a 1 year rental anyone?

Saints need another DE that is for sure. After Cam Jordan and Davenport, it gets kind of sketchy.

No Love for T-Rex?!?

Wilkerson offers the versatility of being able to play DE for you as well - I'd prefer the versatility...

And Suh didn't get going till the playoffs and both times he was matched up vs injured players (v. Peat in the Rams v. Saints)...

McCoy should be a fine Center, but I'd prefer we'd not been in that position and had secured Unger's heir last year...

We could have scooped up Boston College DE Zach Allen at the end of Round 2, but Payton likes paying retail...

Also, we brought in some serious upside guys among the UDFA group as well that should make camp compelling to follow...

TRex is a decent backup "piece", but we need something more coming of the edge.

The guy was a healthy game day scratch (inactive) for damn near the entire 2018 season . That is kind of concerning.

Hopefully Granderson or Gustin can shock the world in camp.

Just remember Sean Payton is less than forthright in disclosing healthy scratches...

ANd Rob Ninkovich was often a healthy scratch - then he was released under an injury waiver; took a year to get healthy in Miami...

He then went to New England where he became a SuperBowl Defensive End...

You're probably right about T-Rex, but he'll have plenty of competition for the 4th defensive end roster spot...

Don't see Gustin playing Defensive End at his size (comparable to Hau'oli Kikaha); know they signed him as that, but suspect he'll get more of a look as an SAM LB...

Kaufusi is a Jason Taylor-Marcus Davenport-wiry-type weak side defensive end that has terrific athleticism, but just may be lacking some sand and some strength...

Well, for those that wanted more veteran depth for the run - that's off the table...

For me, Trey is just a quality backup. Big fall off from Okafor to him when "setting the edge". Better as a pass rusher vs run defender.

I think most of the Saints coaches believe that Davenport will become a 85-90% snap player in 2019.

Keep an eye on Porter Gustin at camp :bng:.

Believe Gustin is A.J. Klein's eventual replacement...

Other than another veteran offensive lineman, can't think of any position we're in need...

Sure there are positions that can be upgraded, but you're not gonna have All-Pros at every position; I like our roster balance and that we have among the best at the key skill positions...

I still don't see Alex Okafor's replacement on the roster ... yet.

Other than drafting Zach Allen, which we needed a Center more, I like what we have to work with going into Training Camp - But, you're absolutely right that's a void that someone better step up into for us or the defense will regress...

And, Davenport may not be worth two first round picks, but he'd better be a force for us opposite Cam, especially with Rankins possibly out for the year. Big "O" has a helluva opportunity to seize that position and I for one hope he does...

I'm still concerned about what the league intends (suspension) to do as it relates to the marijuana "issue".

Not sure they're going to do anything. It was a misdemeanor citation for certain items on the premises. They don't even hand down suspensions for first time actual failed tests and to the best of my knowledge I am unaware of any "failed test".

There are two types of drug testing in the NFL - Performance Enhancing Substances (PES) and Substance of Abuse (SOA). They have different rules. Failing a test for PES can result in an immediate suspension. Failing a test for SOA will advance the player to the next level of the program. There are three stages. An initial failure places the player in stage one which mandates more testing. A failure in stage two can result in a four game suspension - if the substance is NOT marijuana. If the substance is marijuana it simply increases the number of tests possible and lengthens the time in the program. Another marijuana failure can result in a four game suspension and stage three in which a failed test can result in a one year ban.

I guess Sean Payton, Jeff Ireland and the "Mickster" did the right thing in trading up in the 4th round to select David O huh ;).

IMO the Saints office/scouting dept has done a hell of a job over the last 3, 4 years in finding talent on both sides of the ball :broccoli:.

Hot take .. I'm calling it now. Erik McKoy and Gardner-Johnson will become studs in New Orleans.

Alrighty, here we go - we wouldn't have had to trade up for the Big O (Outstanding Pick, Good Job By Ireland's Scouting Team), had we not used two picks to move up and take Vonn Bell...

New England used the third round pick to select Guard Joe Thuney, who made the All Rookie Team...

And the fourth we traded was eight picks ahead of where we took Onyemata...

See that's four picks for two players - and Payton and his yes-man the Mickster overpaid for each of them...

Worth mentioning - was told Ireland encouraged we get that fourth back that was part of the deal to move up and take a ridiculously fallen Chauncey Gardner - Mickster is at best a capologist, not a negotiator...

LMAO @ the Browns.
Are they seriously counting them among the contenders? Camp hasn’t even started yet. OBJ will tear that locker room apart if that young coach of theirs doesn’t have a set of balls.

I actually believe Landry would slap the living daylights out of OBJ if he came in and started ****.
