This is pretty troubling.
Have you read every post thus far or just jumping on a bandwagon? Discovery involves the request for anything that MAY contain pertinent information. The Saints released a statement saying they only replied to the church's request for advice submitted to them and other civic leaders on how to address public relations. They told them to be open and transparent. The vast majority of the 276 documents were most likely normal communications over the past several years on unrelated topics.

What is troubling to me is how people here on a Saints forum are reacting to an AP story making suppositions based upon no facts. Y'all are acting like Goodell believing the tripe about the non-existent "pay to intentionally injure scheme".

Holy ****!

That’s what the Saints said. How do you know what the vast majority of the other documents likely were? That’s making an assumption.

The people asking for the advice are not the ones accused of any wrong-doing. The Saints said they suggested be open and transparent. From my understanding the church has been completely cooperative with the investigations. Y'all are buying into the ridiculous hype of the Associated Press trying to create a story.

Try educating yourself before jumping to all kinds of false conclusions. This is what I HATE about the so-called media today.

I should have highlighted IF, because I highly doubt the ownership is going to be implicated that severely. As I said in an earlier post, this smells like a shakedown. But I was just stating, in a remote total worst case scenario, the worst outcome would be a forced sale of the team akin to Jerry Richardson and the Panthers. There would be no reason to heavily penalize or get rid of the Saints or Pels, in the less than 0.1% chance it came to that.

The correct response should have been “We want nothing to do with this.”

Not “Let’s help figure out how you should handle all of this.”

Jay, welcome to B&G.
It gets lively in here, but far less nasty, than where you come from.

Again, the source is the Associated Press.
As a former news director, I grew up ripping and reading these guys
teletypes, until I began to notice a pattern of strong bias.
Understand this. THEY-are- FULL- of SH*t.

I don't even think they do any background on their writers anymore.

Think my Enquirer reference was funny?
Does anyone remember The Legend of Boggy Creek? A Sasquatch story
set in Fouke, AR?

Its original source: The Associated Press.

Put your pitchforks down and breathe, kids.

If the Saints emails were subpoenaed as part of a case the Saints cannot release that information publicly until a court decides.
AG, not disputing our News Media gone all rogue, British-Paparazzi, Gas-Lighting, Social Justice Warrior ruining American Trust and Confidence - all here agree to varying degrees with you there...

But, in this instance, when heinous crimes are committed by predators of children, the demand of the public wanting immediate transparency would be genuine, albeit a rare genuine moment...

The emails and transcripts are already there, there's no reason to delay in turning those over, and if anything, belay public trust that emails, or the servers there on, are not altered, lost, or worse, destroyed...

Re: Associated Press: NFL’s Saints fight to shield emails in Catholic abuse crisis

I understand the whole “the news makes stuff up” angle, but this isn’t the AP looking for a story. This is two dozen men saying they have proof that the Saints organization tried to help smooth things over. I don’t know if they have the proof or not, but to allude to it being fake news because it’s your favorite football team is silly.

Re: Associated Press: NFL’s Saints fight to shield emails in Catholic abuse crisis

We all Know the AP never looks for any clicks.
NOPE. If this story is about the Atlanta Falcons, the AP is Still Full O Sh**.
I get that some people believe people who wear suits and talk pretty.
I'm not talking from the Swamp. (not that there's a damn thing wrong with people who live in Swamps) I WORK in the Tower.
The story is slanted.
The title is misleading.
These "24 guys" are on the same team here- these are not independent, exclusive voices; This is one lawyer's pen.
Consulting, esp. if you take into account the Organization's side of this, which adds that they advised full disclosure, does NOT equate with "covering up crime," a deplorable & deceptive word choice here. "
If the PR Office is lying, and directly deceiving an investigation, then fine, fire
the suits involved. No need to mothball the Dome.
It's the AP. They've been attacking the Church for decades, and now they want to drag the Saints organization thru the mud, due to their association.
Did I mention the AP is full of Sh** ?

As with your President, the Show will go on, as the mud flies.
This will just be more ammo, for the haters of both organizations.
But maybe The Saints will win in a Landslide next fall, also. : )
