I would do it. Post Brees, I think its actually harder to develop a new franchise QB when you have an all pro receiver. For a QB like Brees, an All Pro receiver is a great asset. For a young QB, a receiver like Michael Thomas is a crutch that prevents them from developing and seeing the whole field. Teams with all pro type receivers rarely win it all, and young QBs who get such receivers too early rarely develop. Look at what Calvin Johnson did for Stafford, what Julio did for Matt Ryan, what OBJ, Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, etc did for the young QBS they worked with. Look at at what AJ Green did for Dalton. You want to do like the Saints, 49ers, Patriots, Colts, etc and bring in the great WR when the franchise QB has matured more and learned to see the whole field and not rely on one crutch.

Bro I get what you’re saying, but again... it isn’t financially possible.

Chris, ANYONE can be moved...

A Sign and Trade is what would likely happen, if it were to happen...

Guaranteeing more money of the existing contract whereby the contract would be restructured to lessen the Saints cap hit, that is, depending on the compensation (e.g. player in return, draft picks, et cetera)...

I give it a 1:3 chance only because there is some traction after the Thomas outburst, refusal to comply on Sean's directions...

But Payton has moved divas I never thought we'd move, i.e. Brandin Cooks, but some of us never saw real diva from him but he got moved all the same...

In fact, if Sean plans on keeping his gig long-term, which he does as he's staying here so long as he wants to be here, he has to reset who's the alpha of alphas in that locker room after Thomas' insubordination...

Would Mike become the most hated player in Saints history if he forced his way out now? For me personally, yes probably.

This would be really unfortunate. I would love to have him for his career but if he doesn’t want to buy into the culture maybe it’s for the best. I hold out hope that all this is just media B.S. Maybe Florio heard that a couple teams reached out but the Saints shut them down.
Is there really a player we can get that would put us over the top THIS year in addition to any draft picks? I think it would have to be a stud player and a first and second.

Player contracts are portable. If we out right cut him we would face the 28MM in dead cap and yes that is probably an unfeasible option. What we could do is either trade him away for whatever someone is willing to give or say screw it and trade him for a 7th and be done with it... the latter would cost someone their job.

The thought of Brady throwing to MT causes me to lose sleep.

Thomas isn't going anywhere unless he does something to void his contract.
With his cap hit and Brees' possible retiring after this season, those 2 would count for over 40 million on next year's salary cap which is expected to be lower due to less revenue this year.

Did he indeed break a contract rule with his punch?
