I opted not to attend the Air Force academy when I got nominated. My friends that did decide to serve feel strongly against the fans, not the players. Their words to me were that this is the whole reason they went and it was never about a flag or the anthem; it was about the people and their rights to be free.

My ancestors were slaves and endured the Jim Crow South, but as far as they’re concerned the small majority that owned slaves or that wanted segregation were cunning enough to convince all the others that it was a good idea for 300 years much to their own dismay, and we're all somehow unaffected by the legacy of our ancestors. *shrug*
