You may be discounting Winston at QB.

Defense. Yes, absolutely. And why not?

Run the ball. Sure. Haven't we all been screaming at SP to run the ball more or at least with more consistency?

IMO, Jameis in the same offense with a couple upgraded weapons can burn a defense at any moment.

So maybe it's "balance" you're referring to. Which, believe it or not, does win games and Superbowls even.

I'm fine with a balanced attack and solid defense!

So if they shore up needs in FA then go with BPA in draft, how can you argue

Re: 2022 NFL Draft: Draft Prospects, Scouting

Jameis Winston PaYds/Gm in 2021 - 148, 111, 128, 226, 279, 222, 56...

Only one game over 250 PaYd; injured in the last game, but he was injured late in the second quarter...

Of his 14 PaTDs, nine (9) came in two (2) of seven (7) games - the Green Bay outlier, and the other against a Redskins team missing three of its five DBs...

Jameis Winston also had the benefit of playing with the healthier, better offensive linemen this past season and still that were his paltry numbers...

Sorry, not sorry, Winston is overrated and we definitely shouldn't overpay - he's not the answer...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Thanks for putting some numbers to it - and I'm not suggesting we can't win with Jameis. I think we can. The honest look shows our offense, even when healthy and not Covid-stricken was not great. Not JETS bad, but not great. Something wasn't right. It's a new year, and with every new year there is new hope.

We didn’t have a single starting-caliber WR or TE last season.

This is why I continue to beat a dead horse on WR in the draft / free agency. The last 4 teams standing were DEEP (1-4) at those positions.

Saints would be foolish to ignore this ... again in 2022.

There will be playmakers available to us in Free Agency & on draft night.

5-2 (14 td/3 int ratio) as a QB in NO coach & throwing to "paltry" scrubs. Kinda hard to put up Madden numbers when your WR core is either practice squad material or a former 1st round busts. You've even mentioned it several times that Callaway should change jersey numbers. Saints need weapons at WR. Legit targets. Guys who can run routes.

Curious, who is the answer at QB in 2022 for New Orleans? Wentz? Mariota? Taysom Hill? Ian Book? The upcoming draft perhaps

Speaking of "overpaying"... what was the front office thinking with that Taysom Hill contract? That's a ton of money to give a guy who was injured & a backup. Sean Payton with a lot of lip service on "the next Steve Young is in the building" nonsense.

But I digress .

Exactly. We had zero playmakers...and while 'some' here (Speedo) argued otherwise, it was nonetheless accurate. Now we have 1 as long as he's healthy. 1 ain't enough.
