Not only is New Orleans $74 million over the salary cap with no clear-cut starting quarterback, but the team also just lost head coach Sean Payton, who resigned on Tuesday. With so much uncertainty surrounding the Saints, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recommended teams call New Orleans to gauge trade interest in some of the team’s expensive veterans. Twelve Saints have a cap hit of at least $10 million heading into next season. The Saints will undoubtedly have to unload some of those exorbitant contracts in order to get under the cap.

Eh, this dude is acting as if the option of restructuring players doesn’t exist. We will have some cap casualties but Thomas won’t be one of them. If he gets traded it will be for other reasons.

The Jets should not be desperate for a receiver. Elijah Moore has 100 more yards and 1 less teammate punched than Michael Thomas over the last 2 seasons. If they dont prefer Moore to Thomas they are idiots. All the talent in the world doesnt matter now that Thomas is physically and mentally unstable.

I would do everything I could to try getting Bryce Young some how. That process starts now I think. I'd start accumulating draft picks via trades and package them into better picks... trade those off and try to get the top pick next year. I think it is doable. Bryce Young is going to be special. He is Russell Wilson 2.0. I think he's going to have everything RW has but better. I also think BY is more calm and clutch.

I'm sure MT's market value is at the highest right now because he was injured though. Give him a good year on the field, then trade him. Tanking for Bryce I don't even think is a bad idea. It sets your franchise up for the long run. Right now we are set up to be stuck in the middle for a while, and I don't like that. We need to do something drastic to shake us out of mediocrity.

MT is gone. New coach will purge the problem children. We did just fine without him. One win away from the playoffs. MT would not have changed much.

Personally, I'm tired of these extensions to players who don't deserve them or won't be performing at the end of a very long contract. Peat is a prime example. Cut tail and run I say. We need a younger team to stay competitive against the salary cap and on the field.

Michael Thomas isn't going anywhere. It is both strategically and financially foolish to think of trading him. In trading him you lose an irreplaceable commodity. He's the best in the game at what he does. Also in replacing him you take on over $22 million in dead cap over one or two years with no corresponding return on the field. It's one thing to eat dead money if a player has no more ability remaining, but it is another to have that dead cap being wasted while the player is still in his prime on another roster. This is a business. The team doesn't care what some butthurt fans might feel.

Mediocrity? We've won more games than all but one franchise over the past five years. How is that mediocrity?
