Re: Do you rest Winston?
I can't pretend I'm not intrigued about seeing what Andy Dalton could do with all the weapons we have. However, he's been known to be an interception machine as well throughout this career. Jabo has earned the right to go out there and prove last week was just an off week and that he can get back on track.

quite a bit in Cincy and he has better weapons than Dalton had. If i was coaching Sunday, Winston better show me something in the first half or he's benched until healthy. I do think he was trying to do to much due to playing the team that let him go but man he made some bad decisions with the ball. He's got the first half against Carolina for me to keep him in. |

I would also say this is why it was probably not advisable to sign him while it still affected compensatory pick calculations and may cost us a pick down the road. We could probably have gotten him later when it didnt affect the calculations and if not, well, there are other solid backups and he isnt the greatest. It might have been smart to ask Sean Payton which mid round QB prospect he thought was the worst in the 2022 draft and pick that guy. Probably would have found the next Tom Brady givens Sean track record with mid round QB picks, but at least we would have been able to try out someone with a possible long future if Winston doesnt work out. Dalton is probably just Winston 0.5. |
