I haven't thought about a heeler since I left the ranch as a young man. Thanks for the memories. Have you ever been to a rodeo? For us growing up it was a regular past time. The side arm is a quick release. I would think that it's similar mechanics whether you're roping or throwing a football.

Google the Duxbury family in South Dakota. They're all either in state politics and/or cattle ranching to this day. My grandpa Lloyd wore a western hat and boots every day of his life. Believe it or not, my son gave me a new lasso for Christmas. He thought it was a gag gift, but I love it. Still working on trying to break it in. Any input, guys? Hard to stretch it without a horse.
