Re: 2023 New Orleans Saints: Training Camp
Hot take : This new and revamped D line will be tough to run on ... again.
Once Breesee puts it all together, he's going to be hard to block. For a man of his size, his footwork is nice. Within 3 seasons or less, I can see opposing offensive coordinators circling his number in those film study rooms. He's a dawg. |

Re: 2023 New Orleans Saints: Training Camp
It’s hard to believe that pre-draft he was labeled as injury liability because he had a post-op infection.

Re: 2023 New Orleans Saints: Training Camp
Are you saying its hard to believe Bresee was labeled as an injury liability? I am encouraged by his play in the preseason but he missed a lot of games in college, realistically teams are going to factor that in. Presumably he was labeled an injury liability because of the injury that required the operation, but as we have seen with players like LeCharles Bentley and Alex Smith, post-op infections are not a plus. Hopefully we got a great player after the injury discount but there is a reason there was an injury discount. We did take a risk.

Re: 2023 New Orleans Saints: Training Camp
I think when you make a top 10 pick you want a lot of tape showing you what a player can do. It's not that the kidney infection will reoccur, its that the kidney infection prevented him from being able to play and make those tapes. He looked good in high school and as a freshman, but you wanted to see how he would develop. Then he had injuries and you wanted to see how he could bounce back. Then he had a kidney infection and a death in the family and you never got to see. To me, its a lack of data that makes it hard to draft him earlier than he was. Similar problem to another lack of data taking Marcus Davenport from a small school and not knowing how he would adjust to the big leagues. But at least we didnt trade up for Bresee, and if the player who fell to us is good, great.
