I like our Aussie punter! There are a lot of schools teaching the rugby kick because it is so difficult to field cleanly because of the way the ball spins. This kicking style has heavily limited the punt return yards and pins the opponents inside the twenty on a regular basis. One thing about Lou Hedley is that he doesn't outkick his coverage unit. He is at the bottom of the league for yards per punts though, and I could see another Aussie kicker brought into compete this offseason.

I also wonder how many of Grupe's kicks were missed because of the holder not getting the placement right? I seriously doubt that Hedley is a very experienced holder and it could factor in to the misses.

Incidentally, rugby players only hold for a kick at goal when the wind won't allow for a clean approach to the ball. USA rugby allowed it even before we introduced the kicking tee in the late 1950's. We could also use sand, saw dust, or dirt to prepare for the kick at goal. You also see a lot of drop kicks at goal which is a dynamic play to watch because they can happen from anywhere at the field.
If the chance arises I would love to see us select LB Payton Wilson out of NCSU, the winner of this year's Chuck Bednarik award as the nation's best defensive player. Demario may only have three or four more years before he decides to hang them up and Wilson is the type of player that could take over those duties as a leader.

I’m sitting at my dinner table, the most truthful place in all American households.

We’re going to be a garbage team until DENNIS ALLEN is no longer the head coach.
I think Derek Carr can be a top 10 QB when healthy, has the right OC and the right coach.
Maybe. Because he looked like horse$4!T most of the season.

People who think my hate for Loomis absorbs my life know nothing else about my life. Everyone is allowed to hate one or two public figures and there is nothing wrong with blowing off steam. I also enjoy family time, good food, various tv shows, travel, and have a good career. But Mickey Loomis is a **** GM.

A concern I have with Derek Carr is that although his overall stats may be average to slightly above average they came against weak opponents and he seems to pad them when his team no longer controls its own destiny and the pressure is off to some degree because if they lose it may not have mattered anyway and expectations are lower. When Carr heated up in the final games the Saints also had among the easiest schedules in that stretch. Also he has never won a playoff game, and has rarely gotten it done in the key games needed to get to the playoffs. My fear is that if we built the team around him to get him home field in the playoffs, it would be like bringing Matt Ryan to the playoffs. I also dont feel bad criticizing him and potentially undermining his confidence thiugh because I noticed he played better this season after getting booed at home and called out by analysts. Maybe if none of us believed in him he could finally suceed.

I dont think corner is a too need even if Lattimore departs. I believe Adebo and Taylor are starting edge corners in this league and Yiadom is a starter or top backup. We have had success finding good young secondary in the second round or later in the draft if needed and would be wise to keep doing that and not waste big free agent dollars or our 1st round pick there. Remember, we went on a winning streak with Lattimore hurt. Thomas too.

Triplett makes sense here. We all know we need help on both lines, but as he mentions, we all also know it takes some time for almost all linemen, especially offensive, to adjust to the NFL game.

I don't know if y'all have heard of Paul Alexander the former offensive line coach. He knows more about both lines than anyone I have ever heard or seen. One thing he commonly points out is how the college game has changed due to the NCAA mandated limits on practice that virtually no lineman is anywhere near NFL ready when they come out. He gives as a huge reason the use of spread offenses and shotgun snaps almost exclusively these days. He points out that it is the simplest scheme to use given the lack of practice and teaching time. But it tremendously retards the development of players on both sides of the ball.

In you have time look for some of the segments that Alexander has provided in the past. I guarantee you'll learn something new and good. I have every time I have heard him, that's for certain.

Can't disagree with this...the only thing I'd add is Loomis was great, then was average, and now its time to move on.
