A concern I have with Derek Carr is that although his overall stats may be average to slightly above average they came against weak opponents and he seems to pad them when his team no longer controls its own destiny and the pressure is off to some degree because if they lose it may not have mattered anyway and expectations are lower. When Carr heated up in the final games the Saints also had among the easiest schedules in that stretch. Also he has never won a playoff game, and has rarely gotten it done in the key games needed to get to the playoffs. My fear is that if we built the team around him to get him home field in the playoffs, it would be like bringing Matt Ryan to the playoffs. I also dont feel bad criticizing him and potentially undermining his confidence thiugh because I noticed he played better this season after getting booed at home and called out by analysts. Maybe if none of us believed in him he could finally suceed.

I dont think corner is a too need even if Lattimore departs. I believe Adebo and Taylor are starting edge corners in this league and Yiadom is a starter or top backup. We have had success finding good young secondary in the second round or later in the draft if needed and would be wise to keep doing that and not waste big free agent dollars or our 1st round pick there. Remember, we went on a winning streak with Lattimore hurt. Thomas too.
Can't disagree with this...the only thing I'd add is Loomis was great, then was average, and now its time to move on.

Of course the horse is dead. Deader than the deadest dead.

Can you give any realistic scenario this offseason, that's not a fever dream, where Loomis is not the Saint's GM and Allen is not the Saint's HC in 2024? Or where the Saints are not once again going to restructure and extend contracts for cap management?

Absolutely nothing has changed. And nothing will change for at least another year. And if the 2024 Saints even win one or two more games than they did in 2023 and make the playoffs in 2024, likely nothing will change after that either.

So, the horse is in fact dead. But you've made it clear that you're not going to accept it and continue to beat that horse like a drum. honestly, most of us around here have just gotten used to your yelling into the void hoping that something will change. But most of us realize that no matter how loud you yell, nothing is actually going to change anytime soon.

Must be tough living with that level of anger and frustration for such a long period of time.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

You might want to send this^^^in an email to the Front Office, where millions of dollars barely move around, so that you can continue to accept and enjoy watching a dead horse on Sundays (and some Thursday Nights). As far as living with anger or frustration, life dishes out enough of that to be dealt with from Monday through Saturday (some Thursday Nights included), but ultimately, it’s just a game, and this is just a fan venting on a forum on the internet. You can deal with it, I’m sure.

Cool. I was just a bit worried that your persistence on this point for nearly a year made it more to you than what it really is. Glad that is not the case.

You and I have different views on this team. Anyone reading just your posts would think that the Saints are 3-14 type team and sinking fast whereas especially in the six last weeks or so, I saw the Saints as bottom of the 2nd tier NFC team with the potential to do better with some consistency. The Saints beat the brakes off a Tampa team in December fighting for a playoff spot and that Bucs team ended up getting to the 2nd round of the playoffs. We were literally 1 missed field goal from being in that spot.

So, now we get to see if a new OC can bring an effective and consistent plan into 2024. If the defense can hold up in the 4th quarter more consistently. If those close losses can turn into wins. I'm just not with you that the current iteration of the Saints are a structurally flawed team. Now SuperBowl bound? May be out of reach for now. But it's not a product I'm at the point of turning the TV off, at least not yet.

Don't count on it, SFIAH. That sinner guy appears to be cut from the same cloth as that other equine abuser, bako, swinging that meaningless club onto a mound of rotting flesh gaining nothing more than rolling eyes from those realistic souls watching in bemused indifference.

Your rolling eyes and bemused indifference has a strange way of disguising itself as a pathetic obsession that cannot resist peeking through your ineffective “IGNORE” function. You might want to check your settings. Next season is gonna be a doozy.

I have been persistent on this point for more than TWO YEARS, not nearly a year. I’ll be persistent next year as well.

With all those “IFs” and “COULDA WOULDA SHOULDAs” and ALMOSTs” grouped together, we almost have a team that can remain “competitive” against teams that $uck @$$ more than we do. Gotta hand it to my fellow Saints fans for being resilient, if not under hypnosis.

Right on brother! That all happened last season and I'm ready to see if the new OC can inject some life into this team. I'd rather not focus on the past except to learn from it. I'm focusing on the future. Like the Senior bowl, combine, draft, and free agency. Along with learning as much as possible about our new OC.

I just had cataract surgery and the future looks brighter! Who Dat!
