There are times to kick, and there are times to go for it. In my opinion, that was a "Go for it" moment... a situation where an aggressive attitude and an aggressive call was appropriate. You also have to consider where you're giving the ball back. By not making the TD, N.O. gave it back at the goal line... given the circumstances I'd mentioned, something good should (and did) come out of that. If, at that point, they let the Jets drive all the way down and score, they deserved it. I figured, worse case for the Saints, Jets would go 3 and out, punt from the end zone and give N.O. possesion Jets territory. But, my guess was wrong... The D came up with a big play and scored. |
