I agree on this, Gerhart isn't a FB and I really believe he will be a productive HB for the team that choses him. He migt not get a lot of 20+ gains but I think he will have a high average per carry.

Was in New Orleans yesterday and heard from a "friend in the know" (gumbeaux at Broussard's) that alot of teams are calling around looking to switch out of high draft picks as their markets (economy) are real, real bad, way worse than ours...

There is nothing definite, just way more "chatter-noise" than usual; but we could definitely see some movement in the draft (on draft day) by several teams this year...

Another factor is to expect to see a rookie max cap next season and so alot of teams affected are looking to get future picks in those drafts regardless of how "deep" this draft is going to be...

This could be an more interesting draft than normal, and not just for the Saints...

I love this part of the NFL...

Every year, a few of the draft’s top prospects appear on the confidential list for failed NFL Scouting Combine drug tests.

FOXSports.com has learned the two biggest names for 2010: Georgia Tech running back Jonathan Dwyer and Southern California tight end Anthony McCoy.

Dwyer tested positive in February for amphetamines, but this appears unlikely to hurt his standing as a late first-round/early second-round selection in this week’s draft. A source said the positive test was triggered by a prescription medication that Dwyer has NFL clearance to use for a pre-existing condition.

“The NFL knew this going into the Combine,” the source said. “Every NFL team is aware of the medication he takes and the confirmation from all the [NFL] doctors involved. Some NFL players take the same medication.”

An early-entry junior with a pounding running style, the 5-foot-11, 229-pound Dwyer rushed for 1,385 yards in both the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

McCoy, who is projected as a second-day pick, tested positive for marijuana

A source told FOXSports.com that McCoy’s representatives (Priority Sports and Entertainment) revealed the positive test to NFL franchises several weeks ago to give teams time to perform due diligence as part of the scouting process. Such honesty paid dividends in 2005 for Priority client Luis Castillo, who admitted to failing a steroid test at the Combine well before the official results were given to NFL clubs. The defensive end was still selected in the first round by San Diego and hasn’t failed a drug test since.

As a senior, McCoy caught 22 passes for 457 yards and one touchdown while struggling with an ankle injury for the second half of the 2009 season. Besides his receiving prowess, the 6-foot-5, 259-pound McCoy is regarded as one of top blocking tight ends in this draft class.

As first reported by FOXSports,.com, Minnesota wide receiver Percy Harvin failed a drug test for marijuana at the 2009 Combine. He was still drafted in the first round and was voted the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year.

hearing lots of reports that brian price is more likely to eat himself out of the league than terrance cody

apparently his work ethic just isnt very good

also hearing a lot about sean lee LB, penn state moving up a lot of teams draft boards

i think he could play strongside for us if we do end up picking him....very quick to the ball and apparently he isnt phased by play action fakes or misdirections(i have no idea about that)........played outside LB early in college before getting hurt and moving inside.....but his instincts and quickness could make him a better OLB in the pros

I think we're gonna shock some folks on draft day.

I used to roll my eyes at the suggestion that we'd do this, but the more I think about it the more it makes sense.

I have a gut feeling we're gonna work a draft day trade and land Glenn Dorsey, and NO I AM NOT AN LSU HOMER. I have no idea what we'll give up, but I remember Loomis being in love with the guy on draft day.

Just a hunch, and I'm not the 1st to suggest it, but I am now on board with it. I also think we can get him pretty cheap.

Ideally he's best suited for a 4-3 DT. Both DT's in a 4-3 need 1 and 2 gap skills, especially if they move around as much as Johnson's D-line does. Ellis can play both, and Dorsey can play both, but neither are suited for a full time 2-gap NT.

An Ellis/Dorsey (if he's 100% healthy) would be awesome 4-3 combo in a 4-3.
