Taking it you saw the Brett Kiesel-type description of Mauro?!?

After your posts about getting a bull-rush, anchor end for the 34, I was looking for that reading the scouting reports and knew he was our guy...

he just wont go away in my mind. watched him play and goofing around with all the drafts and scouting reports i just keep settling in on him as one of the better players in the mid rounds people are not talking about.

i think he is a high ceiling player that can jump right in from day one and just get better as time passes.

Brett Kiesel piece? nope i wil have to read that one. i stopped reading about the kid and have been looking for a better pick and have not found one.
like i said i just can not shake him.

Josh Mauro, DE, Stanford, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

COMPARES TO: Brett Keisel, Steelers -- Don't count on Mauro for blinding speed off the edge but his size, strength and toughness could make him a dependable five-technique defensive end, like the Steelers' Keisel.

Round 1 (27) Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State; Height: 6' 0"; Weight: 202 lbs.

Round 2 (58) Dakota Dozier, G, Furman; Height: 6’ 4”; Weight: 312 lbs.

Round 3 (91) C. J. Fiedorowicz, TE, Iowa; Height: 6’ 5”; Weight: 265 lbs.

Round 6 (186) Josh Mauro, DE, Stanford; Height: 6’ 6”; Weight: 271 lbs.

Offensive Tackles went early in each round as Saints are picking late...

Reached on Dozier as I felt he was a safe pick and could play RT...

Like Mauro, but was looking for UNC Center/Guard Bodine who was selected two picks before Mauro...

No way Sims and Janis are there in those rounds, but they were there so I took 'em; power of positive thinking? Faith?

Well, the combine is starting to really shake things up...

It'd be really interesting if Ha'sean Clinton-Dix fell to us at 27; Jean-Baptiste in the second seems early, though the raw talent is there, I think, at best, he's a late third rounder which is where the Saints currently are assinged...

Rounds 2-6 could definitely be there, I just don't see how Gilbert keeps falling through to Pick No. 27; if this were our draft, and we took a quality first round pick, I'd be stoked...

Thus the chip on his shoulder. Even if he did max stay at nickle that is a key position in todays NFL. like SS has been rewritten so has the role and the playing time of the nickle back. Pass happy league three wides almost always on the field he is worth the pick. the saints can then let Vaccaro play more of a safety role in the defense and free him up to bounce around even more. I see a ton value in kid in the middle of the field and out in the flats on RB and WR screens. the biggest whole in the saints defense would be plugged. besides this would be the first time the saints had a CB quick enough and fast enough to deal with the Steve Smiths and Wes Welkers type of receivers. i could almost go as far as him single handily shutting down the seem. I could see the saints playing a truer form of man coverage with him in the line up. he gets the pain in the but speedy jitter bugs.

yep i am selling him hard

Do not be surprised to see him go in the first. he is a solid wild card to bounce up there. I like the kid a lot. he answer my questions at the combine. now outside he would be a solid upgrade. then white can go back to the middle of the field were his skill set seem to fit better. trade back land him and an additional pick? thats a solid move in the draft.

Kevin...

Don't get me wrong, Verrett is a great talent - I just don't think with his physical attributes he warrants a first or even a second round pick...

Fuller is starting to grow on me...

But in the second, I really like Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame to offset would could be the departure of Graham - while Niklas may be slightly less the receiver Graham is, he can block, and that versatility has me intrigued...

I am 100% sure Gilbert will not be on the board when it is our time, but that draft would be sensancional specialy if we let Jimmy go. My favourite 1st round pick would be Calvin Pryor, that kid is a beast, tremendous athleticism and hard-hitter, the upgrade would be so huge that I would prefer our secondary over the Seahawks.

My moves as a GM would be:
-Bring a guy like David Ayers for OLB, a veteran CB (Munnerlyn) or FS (Delmas, Woodson, Clark).
-Draft Verret, Gilbert, Pryor, Clinton-Dix or Dennard(1ST ROUND), a TE, WR and C in the following rounds.
-Bring Strief back and let Jimmy, Jenkins and Moore walk away.

These moves would allow us to upgrade in many αreas while still remaining under the cap.

Scouting says because of his build, Marcus Martin will be limited to Center - but he'd be a good one...

Powell really has plus athleticism; his issue is health...

Wonder if the second injury was because he came back too soon on bad medical advice or is he fragile (and that's a definite flag for an OLB)...

He was a No. 1 rated, 5-star high school to college recruit that really flashed some pop and wow until his knee injury...

His file would require some serious medical review...

That's why I think he's going in the 6th at best. but with his potential, if he's healthy it would be a huge additional to go with Butler who I think will be a stud, (or a second option in case he isn't)

Actually Powell probably would move behind Butler at the SAM Backer as Galette is pretty much the JACK/LEO Backer...

But we run the 34 a little different in that our natural JACK LB (Galette) lines up on the strong side - probably so we can bring pressure form both sides with Galette and our 5-Tech End Cam Jordan...

If we were to select a Tackle in the early rounds, we'd be selecting a Left Tackle...

...thus, moving Armstead, a more athletic linemen to Right Tackle; shouldn't matter when they're selected, but our running and screen game could explode...

Problem is, the better talent at Left Tackle is off the boards by the time we select...

Between the Salary Cap and this Deep Draft Class, wouldn't mind JG going to Miami...

Pretty much going with the offensive overall.
Dee Ford to good to not take in round 1 and enough depth at WR to wait till round 2.
Depth/Competition at OT with James.
Stork looks to have some good potential at C
Landry is better than the combine results,Street has the body to learn under Colston for a year or so. Jalen Saunders is undersized and needs to put on some muscle but he has enough speed and hands to return and cover some of Sproles duties

Round 1 Pick 27: Dee Ford, DE, Auburn
Round 2 Pick 26: Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU
Round 3 Pick 27: JaWuan James, OT, Tennessee
Round 4 Pick 26: Bryan Stork, C, Florida State
Round 5 Pick 27: Devin Street, WR, Pittsburgh
Round 6 Pick 26: Jalen Saunders, WR, Oklahoma

Sp would be giddy

Re: Mock Draft Simulator

Bitter Sweet News for those who hate Mock Drafts...

Fanspeak's On the Clock NFL Mock Draft Simulator crashed earlier this morning, it's back up...

It's become one popular site...

Despite all the mocks fans et al may draw up, the average selection position that the dBase compiles is useful information in grading a player based on what others are seeing...
