Actually compensation was awarded in the form of a first and third round pick as compensation for the restricted free agent...

You say that with stern conviction as if it actually happened. It was a 1st and a 3rd, there was no Franchise Tag involved, not was there 12m dollars a year involved.

But your point is well made Schmohams, Martin was a Restricted Free Agent and a was a prized Free Agent...

Teams WILL spend picks for a player that is a triple impact threat - Wins, Gate, Television...

Graham going to a team like Miami would be huge for them- College Hometown Hero Returns to Resurrect Storied Franchise...

And we've got a good trade history with them as well; more recently, Ricky Williams, Reggie Bush...

...The deal center Jason Kelce got from the Eagles (6 years, $37.5 million with $13M guaranteed) represents the opening bid for Browns center Alex Mack, if he's set free, and it should effect Evan Dietrich-Smith as well as Brian DeLaPuente.

Browns use transition tag on center Alex Mack. 10 mil.
The franchise tag would have cost $11.6 million. No compensation if he leaves. I think he stays with Browns.

I am betting that by the end of round 1 the browns might have one of the best OL built this off season. round 2 maybe QB. round 3 for sure if they have not made a move at QB

LT Joe Thomas
LG Xavier Su'a-Filo 1B
OC Alex Mac
RG Mitchell Schwartz ????????
RT Greg Robinson 1A

WR Allen Robinson 2 ???? trade back and grab a RB?

QB A.J. McCarron 3

getting some insite from a buddy that were a brownies outfit on sunday. new coach new scheme and OL is the big talk

Starting to wonder if we should just bring back Goodwin on a 1 year deal to play center and let him retire a Saint. That douche Prisco suggested it in his new article about one FA every team should target and I don't hate the idea. It would just be a stop-gap solution but it would beat trusting some rookie to start or shelling out the big bucks for DLP.

So stay tuned, teams with 3-4 defenses (cough . . . Saints . . . cough). DeMarcus Ware could soon be available.

Demarcus Ware?!? To The Saints?!? Hmmm...

I saw that CB Brandon Browner is gonna be able to play next season. He would a very interesting guy to pair up with Keenan Lewis. I also like CB Walter Thurmond.

I know the Saints probably will not do it, but would be fantastic if we trade up for getting FS Calvin Pryor. We would have four guys that are pro-bowl caliber in our secondary, not bad at all. Rob Ryan would blitz on every single snap.

I don't know Hagan. If they don't spend a pick on a big name QB, that owner won't have to worry about the feds. The Dawg Pound'll take him swimming in Lake Erie.

Of course they do have enough picks to do both.

AJ is not a big enough name?
i have a feeling the media hype on round 1 QB is just that hype.

Ok best QB at the top of round 2 then.

Seriously doubt steve smith being a punk ... He's bout that action boss !!

Ask yourself this , if we had smith against Seattle , does our offense still get shut out for 3 & 1/2 quarters ?

Nah , he refuses to be covered , a punk is someone that gets tossed around by a guy half his size for 4 quarters in a playoff game and then raises hell about why he should be paid more ..

Realistically , Jimmy's no punk but I hate that he doesn't stand up for himself.

You'd never have fire being a question with smith , we can't just " class " our way past Seattle y'all

Agreed ... we need a few more players with a chip on their shoulders to become dominate on D. Not saying I would necessarily want Cortland, but I like his game, attitude & no fear mentality.

We didnt do a bad job of containing him last year and his production for Car has dropped off . Colston out produced Smith in all areas in 2013 while starting in fewer games.

Darren Sproles' likely release leaves Jimmy Graham 'shocked and disappointed' | Audibles - SI.com

"Even considering those factors plus Sproles’ nonexistence in the run game, the Saints’ decision comes as a bit of a surprise. His fate may have been tied to that of Thomas, who now may be too irreplaceable to lose, despite the cap savings of nearly $3 million he could bring. Thomas was a reliable receiver out of the backfield last season and led the Saints in rushing — that dual-threat ability might have been what propelled him ahead of the one-dimensional Sproles on the pecking order."

So your interpreting Steve Smith as a system guy and the QB is what makes him as good as you think he is?

BTW who was throwing to him in 2011 and 2012 when he had over 1100 yards each season?

I can't see any other way to read your logic when you put his performance on who is throwing him the ball.

Good/Great receivers catch passes despite who throws them, not because of who throws them.
