Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

What to do?

Sign him. Pay him #1 Tight End money (not #1 WR money).

He's young, uber-talented with a mountain of upside.

Plus Drew Brees will be here for another 4 years.

No brainer.

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

Jimmy Graham has severe case of plantar fasciitis, I think it may have been mentioned during the pro bowl game yesterday by Collinsworth. This is something that is hard to treat and may never get better and good be an condition that could shorten or end Graham's career. He may not be able to pass another team's physical.

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

Well, the big issue is whether he's a tight end or wide receiver or hybrid; we may argue, but it's what Saints FO and Graham's Agent or going to agree...

I'm not surprised. I think it is a legitimate question. I'd like to have him back based solely on what he CAN do, but his apparent lack of toughness against physical secondaries makes him not worth the money he's likely to demand.

Make careful note that I am not saying he isn't worth a lot of money, just that he isn't worth what he's going to want. Whether or not he stays I have a feeling will rest squarely on how bad he wants to stay. If he brings his price down to something reasonable, then they won't simply let him go. But with the money tied to Brees, we can't pay top of the receiver market. Just top tight end market... Maybe.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

They won't. Tom Condon is his agent IIRC sooooooo look for a long, drawn out "negotiation" this offseason. I'm basically not watching ESPN after the draft.

Wow, didn't know Condom was his agent. Well, good by then. He's great if your a player, but he's a team killer.

Re: Jimmy Graham Contract

We'll make him the highest paid tight end in the league. We have no choice. We can critique his technique as a TE all we want, but we can't let his productivity get away. I'm guessing a contract that averages $8 million per year.
