Raiders signed Rodney Hudson to be their new center so Stefen Wisniewski will be available... C'mon Loomis!!

Re: PFF 2015 free agents

KC may counter and Stefen Wisniewski, but I really think he and Clint Boling would put our line back among the elite...

Orakpo and Hardy are still available. We need Orakpo and Reavis. Then we can pick best player available for the 2nd round on. I'm saving the first round pick for a DE/OLB type and we would need an ILB in the 2nd and or third

If a team is counting on drafting two starters at specific positions they're doing it horribly wrong.

C'mon Sean Mickey O' Ireland, at least pick up the phone and inquire...

We've got to replace Grubbs and this free agent is the key...

Jets tender Damon Harrison at second-round level | ProFootballTalk

Damon Harrison is a restricted free agent...

Per his tender, it would cost the Saints a second round pick if he signed with the Saints and the Jets didn't match...

Now wouldn't you want to see this on gamedays against the Falcons...

Davon House denies Julio Jones...

Solid run stopper. Do the Saints make an offer?

Not for a second round pick and not with both Bunkley (recently restructured) and John Jenkins under contract...

Re: PFF 2015 free agents

The Case for Replacing Boling for Grubbs...

Boling is only 25, he will be 26 enterning into this season, he will likely command about 8 mil/season...

For those that are fans of PFF, he's been rated a top 10 guard in the league the past two seasons, that's 64 starting guards barring no injuries nor replacements; he will be entering the prime of his career...

The Saints emphasis in protecting Brees lies in the interior line where the pass protection is designed to set up a virtual bastion (just like a castle)...

Whereby the passer, Brees, can step into the pocket knowing if he moves/passes the ball in the alotted time (3-4 seconds) to predesignated passing zones/buckets that are thrown between his protection...

The only threat he should face is from outside rushers where long-armed tackles (Strief, Armstead) have forced the edge rushers on a long outside arc giving Brees time while the guards and center have held front pass rushers at bay...

Grubbs has failed miserably in pass protection since he was signed; two seasons ago was the best illustration as the young Miami pass rush was taking turns "throwing" Grubbs around; if not for some timely wheel routes by Sproles, the game would have had an ugly conclusion; but it portended of things to come - an aged, slowing offensive line...

Quick digression - Grubbs was the next highest rated guard in FA in the season Loomis elected to let Carl Nicks walk; the Saints Front Office grossly overpaid for Grubbs services overestimating the slight amount more it would have cost to keep an underappreciated Nicks; now, that's done and it's time to get things right up front...

Signing Boling should be the priority; and while there would be some dead money in designating Grubbs a post June 1 departure, that dead money, plus what it'd take to sign Boling would put the cap number at nearly 10 million per year...

As Boling's already been a top 10 guard, coupled with Boling entering his prime, and coming to a better offense and coach, Boling will be primed to earn what should be an All-Pro honor to justify his signing, not to mention more effective protection up front for Brees to return to his normal comfort zone...

Saavy?

Seems like a good fit for him. I don't think he was on our list of FA corner prospects.

True... Plus Tramon Williams and Antonio Cromartie if we want to go the older stop-gap route while Delvin Breaux gets up to speed.

I'm really a big fan of Cromartie. I expected a drop off last year but this guy is still playing at a high level.

Tramon ... hometown discount to play at home? He is from the Houma area (JP can probably confirm that) :D.

WOW
Gore isnt signing in Eagles now.
Reports are after they let Maclin go Gore not keen on Kelly being overbearing. On his way to Indy from Miami on Irsays plane, also on the plane Andre Johnson.
Trent Cole on way too.

Indy coild be real good next year

Ravens shoeing interest in Pierre Thomas if they cant get Forsett to sign. Be a great landing spot for PT.

Whats the chances Johnson and Gore are telling Irsay to go nab Wilfork and Rolle for a Canes reunion in Indy. Im surk Vilma and Reed will pad up for one more go around lol

Re: PFF 2015 free agents

I dont think Johnson and Gore is a bad idea at all. Gore replaces the bust that is Richardson and you know he produces and Johnson replaces Wayne. May aswell use a some cap now and try to get a win while Luck still has that rookie deal as he is going to cost a fortune in a year or two.

*Fingers/toes and anything crossed he falls out with Irsay just as a certain team in a certain state that play in black & gold need a new QB*

Behind that O-line, Pierre can easily have a great year. I wish him all the best.

We never had near enough cap space with the other holes that needed filling. Id wait until the good RBs are off the board and give Ray Rice a call to take over as a third down back. If nobody else calls him it will be cheap.

I suspect Rice has plenty left in the tank and whichever team is smart enough to sign him will get a steal. Just like when he was taken in 4th or so in the draft.
