Tim Lelito says what he likes about Saints' new O-line coach Dan Roushar | NOLA.com

Lelito, who spoke to NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune to promote a charity softball game to be played Wednesday at Tulane, said Roushar brings a technical approach to coaching the position.

"You can tell he's very focused on technique," he said. "'Ok, this first step is going be perfect. If the guy is here, your first step is here. If he's on this side, it's here.' I think we're going to be very technically sound up front, as far as footwork and that type of stuff."

Lelito said Roushar also put an emphasis on improved communication.

Re: Saints 2016 Coaching Staff

Dan Roushar was the O coordinator at Michigan St while our 2016 UDFA & former All American Jack Allen was there.

Here's to hoping he makes the team & gets coached up to the NFL level of play .

Chris, we're looking at this all wrong; maybe Payton suggested as he did to D.A. start over and McMahon too it literally and is looking for a fresh restart, ideas to help him out...

Rob Ryan rips New Orleans Saints, blames new scheme for recent firing

"...I should have gone into Sean and talked to him. Sean is a good person. I didn't, and I just let it happen, so I deserve what I got," Ryan said. "Look, I have been fired before. But I get pissed in New Orleans because I know I am better than that. I am a way better coach than I was allowed to be, and that's just the truth.

"Oh, we are dead last in defense. Well, yeah, you are going to be dead last playing this bulls--- defense. But it is my fault because I didn't say anything. I never stood up and said, 'F you, I ain't coaching this.' I promise you I'd say it now."

Payton, who was asked about Ryan's comments during a Friday interview with PFT Live, said that "the idea that it wasn't his defense, or that he wasn't in charge of it, is silly."

Payton acknowledged that the Saints made changes to their scheme but said it was "never any one person's defense or offense to begin with."

...All of a sudden, we let some good players go; we changed the system after we finished fourth in the league in defense. I don't know, it just seems strange to me."

When asked who instituted the scheme change, Ryan said, "I think everything starts with the head coach and goes higher than that."

"They signed players; they signed a free-agent free safety [Jairus Byrd] and said, 'We are going to keep him in the middle of the field like the goalpost,'" Ryan said. "Well, that's great. He's not going to make one play back there, and now we have changed the entire defense for one signing, and it ruined us. He's a great kid. But the truth of the matter is, you let an All-Pro safety walk, Malcolm Jenkins, and lost your two best leaders on the team, him and Roman Harper. We changed the entire style of play. It was strange...

Commentary: That's the problem in this league - too much copycat and not enough ingenuity...

You could see we were still trying to copy Seattle's defense after overpaying for Byrd, we were reaching on the Stanley Jean-Baptiste selection in the second round, then right down overpaying for Browner last season...

Don't think Ryan has the skills, personality to match up to Payton and run a defense (obviously, because he's pretty much disclosed he didn't check for his balls and tell the boss the moves were FUBAR)...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Saints' Dennis Allen lauded by columnist for comment on defense | NOLA.com

Wow...where did that come from?

Let's see Payton has a new defensive coordinator that he would want to instill confidence in his selection, and...

Sean Payton seeks advice, counsel from his friend and mentor Bill Parcells quite often, and...

Bill Parcells often used Peter King when he need to provide a spark from an outside source, and so...

Head Coaches and Coordinators also project these comments this time of year, seems a bit of a reach for King to do so...

Re: Saints 2016 Coaching Staff

The New Orleans Saints have added to new members to their scouting department, according to a report by Neil Stratton of Inside the League.

According to the report, the Saints hired Steve Malin, who was formerly with the Giants, and C.J. Leak, who was with the Bills before leaving earlier in the spring

Leak spent eight seasons with the Bills, including three as an area scout. He spent the 2006 season on the Bills practice squad and was briefly with the Buccaneers in 2007. He is the older brother of former Florida quarterback Chris Leak.

Malin was with the Giants for 15 seasons and was a regional scout with the XFL prior to that. He also spent six seasons as an assistant coach for SMU.

The Saints have not announced any changes to their scouting department yet, which currently includes area scouts Mike Baugh, Cody Rager, Jon Sandusky, Joey Vitt Jr. and Terry Wooden.

Re: Saints 2016 Coaching Staff

So coaches are unanimously enthusiastic to work with Sean Payton again.

I'm thinking toxic meat heads who trash SP on the way out are exactly what they appear to be...
