Coverage is not his issue. play him at CB and try to work on his desire and willingness in tackling and run support.

He is a CB playing safety with desire issues plain and simple.

And you know this how? Was it when you personally interviewed him at the combine? Perhaps the personal meeting with his coaches?

I watched a ton of big ten games every year and OSU is one of the teams you have to scout. no way around it.

Ezekiel Elliott and Joshua Perry were the only two I thought the saints had a shot at and would be worth picking

What I am saying is that you cannot judge desire by simply watching games. Determining that requires far more intimate contact.

Bullshinski...

You can watch a player, a team, and you can see what's happening in body language...

Two years ago the Bengals walked into the Dome and mauled us...

By the third quarter you could see the Saints were done...

Well, Sean wanted to get home to Ms West Virginia and he moved up so he could come in late tomorrow...

Damn, Patriots just picked up another great offensive lineman...

After the beatdown Brady took in Denver, surprised it took that long to take an offensive linemen...

Guess Giselle called in and jump Belichick's arse...

Re: 2016 Saints Draft Live Discussion Thread

Pitt is a pretty good judge of defensive players and they took Sean Davis at 58. two teams traded before they picked to boot. that was the player to get if you were to trade back for a safety.

If you want to see a hitter watch this kid. listed as a CB but he will move back to a safety.

Von drags players down and worse of all he is a ball tackler.

You know what's bothering me about the Jaylon Smith pick...

Now, didn't want to select him and let him redshirt a year, but...

Have to ask if it's not a conflict of interest that Dallas' Doctor on Staff did Jaylon's surgery and follow up prognosis...

Smith was suppose to be all that promise prior to injury...

Then every scout who saw the medical reports and consulted doctors from all over the country basically said he'd be lucky to play again...

And then Dallas takes him at the top of the second round...

Sounds like Jerruh is playing with a marked deck, Texas style...

Re: 2016 Saints Draft Live Discussion Thread

i smelled dead fish with that pick also

jeanpierre 04-29-2016 09:44 PM

Re: 2016 Saints Draft Live Discussion Thread

Kinda the same thing with the UDRFA signing with LSU's La'el Collins...

Collins had admitted how he and Jerruh had been on the phone the past week discussing playing for Dallas...

Then the story hits how he's somehow a possible material witness in a young mother's murder...

Something's rotten in Big Dallas...

Re: 2016 Saints Draft Live Discussion Thread

Yep sounds like it
Now Smith is saying he could play this year. Sounds like a complete set up. Push everyone else away and get who you want with inside Knowledge

round 3 pick for the saints for me would have been
Justin Simmons DB Boston College 6025 201 4.53
since Sean was gone and i went OT in the first
so far
1 - Laremy Tunsil ROT Ole Miss 6050 310
2 - Jarran Reed, DT/DE, Alabama 6034 307 5.21
3 - Justin Simmons DB Boston College 6025 201 4.53

Joel A. Erickson – Verified account ‏@JoelAErickson

Thomas' selection "is no way a reflection on Brandon." Says Thomas is a player who had a very high grade from New Orleans

Joel A. Erickson

Payton says there's a couple of different value charts. Saints got an equal or plus value on their chart for trade with Patriots

Larry Holder – Verified account ‏@LarryHolder

Payton said there is a concern about guard in this draft in that the Saints don't have one yet

I see him as a CB who has been playing safety. So the question I have is this, Did the saints draft him to play CB. If so I can see accept the pick better. But his tackling leaves a lot to be desired and needs work. Ball skills is not an issue.

We're not looking for tackles in our secondary more than we're looking for turnovers and deflections.

Teams must be seeing something completely different in Billings to the 'experts' on the mocks.

Saw what the lack of tackling in the secondary got us last year? Can he tackle is not an uncommon question among elite defensive teams in the nfl. If they can not they will almost always pass on those players.

This is a requirement the saints have placed to little value on the past few years in the secondary. Especially safety which is your last line of defense.

I agree. I wish they all had desire like Shockey had desire, no doubt about the desire there. No quit at all.

I had my issues with billings and never bought into round 1 but to still be on the board is a shocker

Reminds me of Tiny Richardson a couple of years back. Saw him ranked as high as the first and ended up a UDFA. Didnt realise he retired after a year

I agree with the Baylor issues and playing against spread offenses all the time. But I will be floored to see him go undrafted.

Well..things definitely went a different way today. Just gonna rely on the expertise of the people that get paid to make the decisions. I would like us to take a chance on Rico Gathers. That dude looks like a beast and the chance he could be a Jimmy 2.0 is worth taking a chance on IMO.

well no rushing home tomorrow I guess. Our defense so far got smaller but quicker.

Rico Gathers the hybrid power forward/TE out of baylor? that would be interesting to say the least. How about that freak out of WR germany?

I have one more DB on my list this late into the draft
Juston Burris DB/CB /NC STATE 6002 212 4.53

DE going be really thin by the time we pick. not like this was a great draft for DE

lol just got way excited. I know we don't draft again until the 5th round but the late rounds are where you can find a lot of gems and I think coach will do it!
