If this was a simple trade they wouldn't be wining and dining. He has a say in this matter. He has to be willing to sign the tender to take the Saints' first rounder off the table. He would only do that if he knew for certain that a trade in principle has already been agreed upon between the Saints and the Pats.

Is that not suggesting that there are no real system players? I don't see any other way to interpret what you said.

No. You implied it, Sir. My statement should have led you to believe that Butler could work in any system, not that system players don't exist.

Of course system players exist. We have and have had a them on our team.

Another view, perspective on why Malcolm Butler is available...

Sorry, but I have a bad feeling about all of this. Saints should tell the Patroits to keep Butler. I'd rather take my chances with a rookie CB.

No matter how talented they may be, it is very rare for a rookie CB to be very effective. It takes most of them a couple of years to get up to NFL speed. A good veteran CB is more valuable than a potentially very good rookie CB if you are wanting to win NOW.

Growing a little tired of the speculation here. Anyone speculate we'll have a definitive answer to argue about soon?

That may be but I can't shake the feeling that this is a bad idea. God I hope I'm wrong.

Last one I remember being a force was Patrick Peterson. 2 Ints and a sack his first year. Most of his impact came on special teams though where he had 4 tds.

All this would've been moot had we taken Marcus Peters in 2015 when we had a clear need and he was BPA...

Glad we got Peat, but did we really need two Left Tackles?

KC Chiefs, Marcus Peters, is the last corner to have major impact his rookie year, at least that I can remember.

I know. They are rare, but they are out there. I know a few personally and knew quite a few when I was in the business, but that was ages ago. A new breed these days.

He never knows. He is the worst at starting rumors based upon his uneducated guesses being stated as fact.

So if he's traded for the 32nd pick....And nothing else...How does everyone feel about that?

Cautiously love it! It's basically an even trade. However, if this is true it means a contract has been worked out and I would like to see the details of it before I get too happy.

It's almost like we traded Cooks for Butler straight up...

There doesn't seem to be any other source backing up that Pardon My Take tweet so I'd take it as BS for the time being.

However, it would back-up what I've heard about NE's #32 pick being a placeholder for Butler since they couldn't get things worked out quickly enough to include him in the Cooks trade.

True. And I guess if we traded Cooks for Butler straight across, I could stomach that. But I still think we should get our other pick back from them.

Just hoping the FO doesn't fold and give NE additional picks.

When all is said and done it should be Butler+3rd rounder for Cooks+4th rounder. Just speculation of course.
