Does Vegas know something we don’t??

That would make my day.

The way I see it, AJ will be a UFA at the end of this season. Cincy is a terrible team and they are potentially losing Green anyway without getting anything in return.

I can see the logic in why he's been talked about and "rumored" to several teams ... including the Saints.

What would that pick cost? Mike Brown has no love for the Saints as we've often competed for the same free agents and Payton has jumped Cincy a few times in the draft for the same player...

What is his salary ... like 12M a season? He hasn't made a catch & basically walks at the end of the year. Hell, Brown better accept a 3rd or 4th and keep it moving.

At this point of the season, I'll take AJ because he can roll out of bed and become our #2, Dez because of his price tag or Emmanuel Sanders (his route running looked polished last night) as I see a "fit" scheme wise.

Looking at the current roster, we currently have THOMAS, GINN and a lot of injured/undrafted guys who can't contribute on Sunday.

No timetable on when we might get back a healthy TreQuan or Keith Kirkwood. (Southlake) Jordan Humphries, Carr & Dan Arnold aren't those dudes.

My .02 cents on the issues at WR.

ChrisXVI 10-18-2019 04:50 PM

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

What other WR trade candidates can we think about? I’d be happy with Sanders or Green, but big price tags, unwillingness to be dealt by their teams and competition from other WR-needy teams could make them both difficult to land. There has to be some under the radar options out there.

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

Major is right that we need a legit boundary threat - Ted Ginn DOES NOT have the legit wheels he had ten years ago, at least not the sudden acceleration...

We really need a couple of Devery Henderson/Brandon Cooks/Cyril Grayson types to just tear the top off the defense and open the intermediate routes for @CantGuardMike and our Tight Ends...

I just don't agree with the price tag of using a Day 1, Day 2 pick or even an early Day 3 pick for these short-sided moves; Green is a talent, but I've seen chemistry back-fire (i.e. Roy Williams to Dallas)...

Where I truly believe we're hurting is either Payton hasn't committed to the run as he had in Kamara's rookie season, or Murray is just not the replacement for Ingram as Payton/Mickster had hoped...

Either way, we still don't have legit boundary speed after @CantGuardMike, and his game is built on physicality, not speed...

Davante Parker, miami.

I haven’t looked at his contract status or anything like that — but he could be good, and the Dolphins could be convinced to deal him as part of the great tank experiment

Now, that's possible because Miami is tanking, even though they're not, and we've made several trades with them since Ireland came over and improved our scouting department...

Parker currently leads the league in yards per attempted pass, and he wouldn't have the pressure of being the No. 1, and he's enough speed, size to draw attention outside...

But, again, Parker's development, progression has taken f-o-r-e-v-e-r, so how long will it take him to even learn a third of the Payton Playbook? That's my concern on him...

I’m looking around the league and there aren’t a ton of options. Maybe a guy like Jaguars WR Keelan Cole? Very cheap and he’s had some good productivity.

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

DeDe Westbrook? He was drafted with a 4th, should cost less, and we just need a legit burner (4.34 40) on the outside...

Jacksonville looks like sellers...

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

Austin Carr had opportunities on yesterday but didn't capitalize.

I'm all for bringing in another WR. I think Dez would have at least caught one of those passes if not both.

Emmanuel Sanders is still my choice before the trade deadline.

Yeah, I'd like to know on those passes to Carr if AC ran bad routes or if it was just Teddy's inaccuracy; Teddy had a several passes that were off, but all passes to Carr were way off, so that could be on one or both...

Saints are making the calls but the Dolphins, Redskins, Bengals, Broncos, and Jaguars are asking King's ransom...

If the ball is in your zip code at this level, you gotta make those catches and he's not.

Dak threw some ducks to Michael Gallup (taken a few picks before Tre'quan Smith) yet he found a way to bring em in and keep the chains moving against the Feagles.

Oh, c'mon, both of those were clearly out of his reach...

That's not to say Carr wasn't where he was suppose to be, but then again, Teddy hasn't been the model of consistent accuracy either...

That's why I'd like to be in the meeting and find out what really happened...

Brees hopefully comes back this week, plays well, and we get a different take on what Carr is as a Wide Receiver...

Another upgrade in the secondary; next year's draft should be heavy emphasis on starting guards, wide receiver and secondary depth...

Fair enough but the point here is that we saw how no reliable #2 hurt down the stretch last year against tough teams. I definitely see why the Saints front office is on the phone with Elway trying to pull off a trade with Emmanuel. I think he could be had (on a expiring deal) for a 4th ... maybe a 5th.

It's gonna suck if this guy goes to the Packers or 49ers ... both appear to be legitimate contenders in late January.

Yep. Not having a strong No. 2 is evident as Teddy's read progression is sloooow; conversely, with Brees' return, we'll see yet another testament to his greatness - elevating the play of others, particularly receivers...

Brees will have the ball released before the receiver breaks on the route, making the receivers' jobs easier, making them look better, and, of course, drives will be extended, eating clock, making our defense better...

Should we acquire another WR as you're right to argue, we really need 4.3-type speed on the top of the route tree; Hill's winning the TE production battle & @CantGuardMike will get easier, more explosive plays...
